“For the first four years, we failed miserably, until we got a chance to develop our first DSiWare title, Animal Puzzle Adventure, and released it on the Japanese DSiWare store. It showed us the potential advantages of releasing games via DSiWare.
By this, I don’t mean that we saw huge success in terms of sales on our first DSiWare title, but DSiWare has generally been a better platform to help us achieve our dreams as a publisher.”—
Circle Entertainment CEO Chris Chau, explaining how the company became such an unusually prolific DSiWare developer. Siliconera’s interview is a really interesting profile of the company behind Bookstore Dream (and many other things), a company that is almost totally invisible despite releasing what seems like several games a month.
I’m uncertain if Balún really qualifies as “chiptunes,” but I’ve always loved featuring the band’s music here, and — though I have to often remind myself of the fact — this is our blog and ISDGAF if something I want to post doesn’t necessarily fall within our typical parameters.
That aside, the Puerto Rican group included this song in a new, three-track release called La Luna, or as I understand it in English, The Luna. It’s beautiful stuff. Download it for free, enjoy it, and then go through our archive to listen to more of Balún’s dreamy music.
“The ‘Mother republication’ thing I mentioned briefly before is making progress.
It’s not Mother 4, though! This has to do with making Mother playable. I can’t give out any details just yet, but I do at least need to say that it isn’t 4.”—
Cryptic tweets from Mother/Earthbound creator Shigesato Itoi about a new project he’s working on for the series. Earthbound Central, which translated and posted the tweets, warns fans not to get too hopeful, but I think it’s pretty clear that an enhanced port of Mother 3 is finally releasing in the West through the eShop.
There’s also an update for the fanmade Mother 3 GBA English patch on the way, though it may see a delay depending on whatever Itoi’s working on (Mother 3 on U.S. eShop).
Here’s the full soundtrack for Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why’d You Steal Our Garbage — that’s 34 tracks, nearly an hour and a half of music from the DS and 3DS game. You can also listen to them individually here.
