Taito’s Music GunGun is something I’ve never heard of before: a rhythm-action light gun game. I didn’t even think there was anything new to be done in the ubiquitous arcade light gun game genre. In this cute game, circles appear on screen in time to music, and up to two players shoot them. Taito’s site has a quick video of the game in action.

Basically, it’s like Ouendan, except you don’t get to physically touch the screen. Despite this game being part of The Taito “No-Thinking Game” lineup, I suspect that the combination of aiming and rhythm could make this thing pretty challenging. Too bad there are no arcades in America anymore — especially none that would pay the exorbitant cost to import such a quirky game this July.
