Tiny Direct: All the 3DS news from this morning’s Nintendo event (and more!)

Nintendo streamed a pre-recorded, 40-minute presentation early this morning from Japan, and we’ve collected all the announcements the company made about the November 3DS firmware update, Mario Kart 7’s online features, eShop titles, and new games.
We’ve also sprinkled in news that has trickled in from the U.S. and Europe — like a 3DS and Wii app for video streaming service Hulu Plus coming out this year (separate $7.99 monthly subscription required). All of it below!:

November’s 3DS Firmware Update
- Coming out at the end of November.
- Movie recording
- Record up to 10 minutes of video.
- Options to adjust playback speed and shoot stop motion clips.
- StreetPass additions
- New dungeon in Find Mii for 3DS owners who’ve beaten the first one. Features two-character attacks, new monsters, and new backgrounds (presumably new treasures, too).
- New Puzzle Swap puzzles — Donkey Kong Country puzzle shown.
- StreetPass Mii Plaza has a new interactive map that shows what areas people are from.
- Transfer software from one 3DS to another.
- Unspecified eShop improvements planned.
Mario Kart 7 StreetPass/SpotPass Features:
- Installs a Mario Kart Channel on the 3DS menu that collects StreetPass info, such as ghost data, win/loss records, number of collected coins, etc.. You can select a player’s data, and choose to race them online.
- Daily ghost data downloads.
- Race against up to 7 ghosts at the same time
- Online races for up to 8 players, 60 frames per second.
- “Community features” lets you create groups with other players to set up custom rules for courses, track leadeboards, and more.
First-party eShop Announcements, Release Dates:

- 3D Classics: Kirby’s Adventure is coming. See below for info about 3D Classics: Kid Icarus.
- Picture Lives! will come out in the U.S. as Freakforms: Your Creations, Alive! next month.
- WiiWare’s hole-in-the-wall-style game Anatous (or ThruSpace) will receive an eShop follow-up with 250+ stages and a custom level editor.
- Nimble Sakura Warrior (pictured) - Awesome-looking third-person samurai game that has you dodging attacks and slashing at enemies. Like Infinity Blade, but with an Okami-esque aesthetic and lots of cherry blossoms. Out next month.
- Swapnote - An app that lets you exchange messages, drawings, audio files, and more with others via StreetPss and SpotPass. Maybe this could be used as an online messaging system/PictoChat replacement?? This will be given out for free this December.
- Dillon’s Rolling Western - That awesome third-person action/tower defense game starring a cowboy armadillo will release in Q1 2012.
Banpresto’s Lost Heroes:
- New 3DS game that brings together Ultraman, Gundam, and Kamen Rider.
- Etrian Odyssey-style dungeon crawling RPG.
- Coming out next year.
- Will never come to U.S., LOL :o( .

Club Nintendo promotions:
- Anyone who buys and registers two 3DS games this holiday season will be entered to win one of 3,000 limited edition Mario shells (three designs).
- Everyone who enters will receive a free copy of 3D Classics: Kid Icarus. This will be sold as a download game eventually, too.
