Black Wii, newly announced for Japanese release.

Nintendo is finally manufacturing Wii with an alternative color, but will it be enough to save struggling hardware sales in Japan? You can see photos of the console’s black Wii Remote, Nunchuk, rubber jacket, and Classic Controller Pro by clicking the above image.

The company also unveiled a new color for Nintendo DSi — Red. This system debuts much sooner in Japan, July 11th. Now the country has six editions of the handheld — White, Black, Pink, Lime Green, Metallic Blue, and Red.

[Update: I forgot to mention this, but the Black Wii will debut alongside Monster Hunter Tri’s release, while the Red DSi accompanies Dragon Quest IX’s debut.]

Nintendo did not disclose any details regarding a U.S. release for either colored consoles.
