Now that Atlus is bringing Shiren the Wanderer Wii to the U.S. next spring, I’ve every intention of turning Tiny Cartridge into the Shiren headquarters that I transformed DS Fanboy into last year. So, I hope you like roguelikes.

Three Shiren things we should talk about:

1. I know many of you are inconsolable over the boxart Sega used for Shiren DS’s localization — you can’t bring up the game anywhere without someone complaining about it. Yes, it was awful, but I’m sure there were more serious issues contributing to why it sold so poorly, so much so that no other publisher wanted to touch the Shiren series afterwards. Thankfully, an Atlus representative told us that the studio doesn’t intend to touch the game’s art. Great!
2. Atlus still isn’t sure if it will implement the Shiren Wii’s online features (pot trading, rescues, leaderboards, downloadable dungeons, multiplayer versus) for the North American release, as the developer doesn’t have much experience with online support for Wii games. Not so great!
3. JC wrote up a great preview of the game from E3, probably the best impressions you’ll find for Shiren Wii, unless someone goes out and collects all the posts by Shiren fanboy LordGek from the dozens of forums/blogs he frequents into a big binder.
