Capcom wants $50 for Resident Evil: Revelations — but you can still get it for $40

If you’ve paid attention to 3DS game prices, you might have noticed that more new titles are releasing at a more reasonable $29.99 instead of the $39.99 standard (e.g. Tetris: Axis, Centipede: Infestation, and the upcoming Nano Assault) a trend that I hope will catch on.
Capcom is paying all that no mind, though, and has set the MSRP for high-production survival horror shooter Resident Evil: Revelations to $49.99 — that’s for just a copy of the game and not a Circle Pad Pro bundle.
The publisher explained the higher price to Kotaku:
“A true console experience on a handheld device, Resident Evil Revelations is an epic title that offers both a single-player campaign for that classic survival horror gaming experience, and an additional RAID mode that can be played cooperatively or single player.
To handle all of that data, Resident Evil Revelations requires a 4GB cartridge, resulting in a higher price point.”
If that sounds like too much to pay for a 3DS game, that’s because it is worry not, you won’t have to cough up that much cash. While GameStop is asking $49.99 for Revelations (and throwing in a goofy case), Amazon still has it listed at $39.99 with a preorder price guarantee and free shipping. Yay for not shopping at GameStop.
