Scribblenauts’ “Post #217” scene by Edison Yan (click image for a larger version). If you’re unfamiliar with Post #217 from NeoGAF’s discussion thread on the game, it’s an impassioned E3 preview in which the author describes how he battled robot zombies by conjuring a time machine, going back in time, jumping on top of a dinosaur, then travelling back to chomp on the mechanical undead.
It’s strange to hear outlets describing Scribblenauts as a “game that came out of nowhere” after hearing JC rave about it every week since late 2008. Anyone familiar with 5th Cell who heard about the concept months ago already knew shit was gonna be ballin’.
Maybe it qualifies as an “unknown gem” if you don’t pay attention to handheld titles, which I wouldn’t put past most sites. The DS outsold all non-Nintendo consoles combined last month, yet most gaming sites struggle to balance their coverage to accomodate the system.
