Holy Hell, a shoot’em-up/puzzler hybrid for GBA. Of course, this Italian homebrew project has a wacky story:

“The myth of Myar is travelling through the pages of history for centuries, telling us that the world will end when the royal demon Azatoth will be awaken. The great Azatoth is going to rise soon preparing the world to his own future domination.

He [sent] 4 messengers of apocalypse to guard the 4 elemental stones. These stones are the last weapons useful to destroy the great Demon according to the legend.

You are part of the last flying brigade, and your ship is equipped with weapons created to completely destroy the 4 messengers army. it’s up to you to stop Azatoth and save the world.”

In Holy Hell, you can destroy blocks and all adjacent squares that are colored the same as your ship. Hitting identically colored blocks consistently increases your chain meter/score multiplier, and flying over those blocks will absorb them and charge your bomb gauge.

You can download a beta version (v.2.2) of the homebrew GBA game for free from the developer’s site.
