Treasure World community trailer (worth listening to!).
I haven’t really followed news on this WiFi treasure hunt game, mostly because I don’t understand its draw, but this music is aces. Apparently you can create and customize songs by laying out treasure you find onto your personal world. With support for 8-bit sounds, I believe this counts as a chiptune composition tool.
As neat as that is, I still haven’t figured out why the people who’ve previewed Treasure World are so hyped about the game. I can appreciate that the Animal Crossing-ish presentation combined with its concept of collecting thousands of treasures by finding WiFi signals can be addictive, and I applaud the advanced (for the DS) social network and online community features that Aspyr set up for the game, but I haven’t grasped what kind of fun I can extract from this type of experience.
Why is this supposed to be fun? What am I missing here?
