Proof of concept: DSi mode homebrew hacking.

Team Twiizers, the group that kicked open Wii’s homebrew and piracy scene, posted this demonstration of its progress loading unauthorized code through a DSi-enhanced game (Ubisoft’s Classic Word Games), showing off its logo as a neat “Hello World”. According to one of the team’s members, the microcontroller is not required for the hack.

While users can already load homebrew and commercial games on the DSi using DSi-compatible flashcarts, the software will only run in “DS mode” and cannot access the system’s unique features, such as its two cameras. Perhaps this hack will advance to the point of enabling coders to develop games and apps that can use the camera?
