Game & Watch Chef trailer for DSiWare.

Many of you have crusaded for a portable Virtual Console, a digital download platform for Nintendo’s classic handhelds — well, here it is. The company will release nine Game & Watch titles in Japan over the next month for 200 Points each. Trademarks filed by Nintendo of Europe indicate these will eventually show up in other territories, too.

Here’s the release schedule and some trailer links:

• July 15: Ball, Flagman, Vermin and Judge
• July 29: Helmet and Chef
• August: Donkey Kong Jr., Mario’s Cement Factory, and Manhole

To give you an idea of how primitive these LCD games were, here’s a short clip of the DSiWare port of the first ever Game & Watch title, Ball (you might remember this as Game & Watch: Toss Up in Warioware: Touched!):
