“Chartreuse Cactus” by Connor Christian Kirby-Long (a.k.a. I, Cactus). This track and I, Cactus’ self-titled album were some of the first non-video game chiptune stuff I really got into years ago, when the only place I knew to find this kind of music was at 8bitpeoples.

Back when I had an office job, I’d chill in my parked car during my hour-long lunch breaks, eating Chinese food, playing Fire Emblem or Advance Wars, and taking a short nap while listening to this/Fresh Air/La Pieta.

I haven’t really listened to this in years, but I thought about it again last week after catching it in the background of this Super Meat Boy interview video, which is worth watching just to hear Edmund McMillen talk about how his game’s controls feel “better than Mario”.

Speaking of Super Meat Boy, did any of you grab it, or are you waiting for it on WiiWare? Are you enjoying it? Are the controls better than Mario? I hear it’s pretty great!
