Tiny Cartridge

Occasionally, journalism kind of creeps me out. Gpara, trying to make some point or another, decided to send people out to just… watch people playing DS on Yamanote Line trains for two days, and find out who was

a) using a flash cart, and

b) who was playing Dragon Quest IX.

Across two days, there were some people using flash carts, and, of course, lots of people playing DQIX, but only two people were doing both. Gpara posted fairly detailed notes of its observations, including the gender, approximate age, probable occupation, and type of DS for each gamer on the train. Which is… I mean, that’s a little weird, right?

Interesting statistics regarding the 215 Nintendo DS gamers spotted on the Yamanote Line over the two days:

  • 9.3% used flashcarts
  • 13.0% played Dragon Quest IX
  • 18.1% were females
  • 15.8% used DSis
