Shiren the Wanderer 2 fan translation screenshots.
Oh god, it’s really happening! It’s great that Atlus is bringing Shiren the Wanderer 3/Wii to North America next spring, but many fans who were spoiled with the original StW DS still want the roguelike’s portable sequel.
More than eight months since Sega released StW DS 2: Demon Castle in the Desert in Japan, there’s still no word of any U.S. publishers planning a localization. Xvirus, however, is working on an unofficial English patch, and will put out an Alpha release in the coming week.
The programmer already has posted several screenshots showing his progress translating menus and items. Xvirus says there’s still a lot of translation work ahead (such as the game’s story), though, and he’s having trouble figuring out StW DS 2's font system.
Nevertheless, I am thrilled by this new development, even if it requires a significant investment in a DSi-compatible flashcart and an import copy of StW DS 2. I need more Shiren in life; you might not know it yet, but so do you.
Preorder: Shiren the Wanderer Wii ($39.99)
