Shadow Tower (Wii) screenshots from the latest Famitsu.

I’m excited to see a new and interesting IP from Hudson! The game has you controlling a young boy’s shadow, jumping over the shadows cast by platforms and traps while exploring the titular tower.

1up translated what little detail the magazine provided about this curious Wii platformer:

“The shadow-boy is capable of interacting with the real world to some extent — if he pulls the shadow of a lever, then the real lever moves as well, for example.

That won’t be enough to get him through every obstacle, though, so the boy also has a partner, a black butterfly that flies around and helps out. One of the demonstrated ways she does this: moving a light source around, thus changing all the shadows and making a previously-unpassable ‘hole’ easier to jump over.”

One naturally compares the game to Ico after seeing the environms and hearing about the setting, but I like to think that Hudson was inspired by Peter Pan, wondering what would have happened if the troublemaker’s shadow escaped and flew off to its own adventures.

Also, it’s difficult to look at the game without thinking of Scott Anderson’s Shadow Physics:

Can’t wait to hear more!
