Dragon Quest IX: Protector of the McDonald’s Network

Random Tokyo story time! Sorry, I’m still remembering things I wanted to share from two weeks ago.

My wife and I were in a McDonald’s in Odaiba, far too hungry and tired to be ashamed of eating at McDonald’s. Three or four of the other patrons had their DS Lites and DSis out, taking advantage of the “Mac de DS” connection and the Dragon Quest IX Ronald wig offer.

One young boy sitting with his mother and siblings couldn’t figure out how to connect his DS to the McDonald’s network. The assistant manager came out and first tried to tell him how to do it, and then took the kid’s DS and worked on getting it set up himself. For the entire time it took for us to eat our Chicken Tatsuta set meals.

That’s definitely the best Mickey D’s customer service I’ve ever seen, and for something that wasn’t food-related and didn’t cost anything! I really hope that kid got his bright red wig.
