A critical shot in Kaiju Busters! Whether or not the rumors are true about this Monster Hunters clone playing like butt, two things are certain:
Comparing this to Phantasy Star Zero, one thing I like about Kaiju Busters — and this is based solely on the above demo footage and on my experience with PS0’s Hunters — is the ranged/gun class seems more exciting with its scope view and direct control of shots.
I found the Hunter’s combat routine in PS0 monotonous, a series of “attack, attack, heavy attack” combos that stayed just as boring 15 hours into the game as it was in my first mission. I complained about the invariability to JC, and he said he found the predictability “relaxing”. Perhaps I’m playing PS0 wrong? Or maybe I shouldn’t have rolled created a Hunter? I probably would enjoy the game more if I could shoot a dragon in its coinpurse.
