Space Agency, a new game pitch for a “space action RPG” from Sakura Note developer Audio Inc. The Engrish in the clip is so awful it’s embarassing (“Are you Space Agent? I am not doing a bad thing of anything.”), but I guess the studio is trying to attract a U.S. publisher to possibly fund this project’s production. Akira Ueda, if you’re reading this, holler at me, and I’ll help adapt your script.
The art style — 16-bit-style sprites over pre-rendered environments — and wackadoo concept are unmistakably Audio Inc., and it also has a cockpit-view space combat element, so I’m all over this like sparkles on vampires. I’m also anxious to meet “wire-pullers” and raise skills like “negotiation, character, adaptation to environment, pheromone, and table manners.”
As far as I know, aside from Contact (which was technically a Grasshopper Manufacture title), none of Audio Inc.’s games have made it to the States. Deltora Quest, Majin Tantei Nougame Neuro, and Sakura Note all stayed in Japan, where I suspect they sold a combined total of less than 30,000 copies. I really hope at least one of their titles sees an English translation before the small company files for bankruptcy and closes. :o(
