Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes on sale for $19.99 at Best Buy tomorrow →

I just wanted to give you a heads-up that this title was spotted in Best Buy’s weekly store sale ad, despite it releasing just a few days ago. I’m unsure if this deal is planned for both online and in-store locations, but just in case, I linked the product page above.

[Update: Looks like the sale is online, too!]

Clash of Heroes has become this year’s Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords, not just due to its marriage of puzzle and RPG elements (it’s more strategy RPG, actually), but also because it’s becoming a sleeper hit. Hardly anyone paid attention to its release initially, but more people are starting to talk about the addictive title based on its excellent reviews and gamers’ praiseful impressions, and Penny Arcade even endorsed it yesterday.

It’s to Capybara’s (the indie studio behind Clash of Heroes) benefit that no other company, including Puzzle Quest developer Infinite Interactive, has released a great follow-up to Challenge of the Warlords. I’ve read more complaints than compliments for Galactrix, Puzzle Kingdoms, and Gyromancer, and there’s little to indicate that the recently announced Puzzle Quest 2 introduces anything radically different from the original.

So, if you enjoyed Puzzle Quest but found the puzzle/RPG hybrids that followed it disappointing, take a chance with Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes. It’s cheap!
