Ganbare Goemon! Karakuri Douchuu for Famicom. Before it was the famous Legend of the Mystical Ninja, this is what the Goemon series looked like: essentially a game about wandering around, beating the poor guy trying to carry water (?) and collecting girls (?) while you look for the three passes you need to get out of the level.

I didn’t actually know about the passes until I checked HG101 for info relating to this post. Thanks, blogging! Now I may actually make progress in this game. Not that I wasn’t enjoying all that aimless exploration.
