DS/3DS Release Dates & Sales // Tiny Cartridge Stickers For Your Games!

Exquisite video tour of Meteor, the Japanese retro game culture shop we’ve featured previously for its annual “My Famicase Exhibition” art show.

This clip, shot by Katya “Kitsuney” Mokolo, doesn’t just provide glimpses of the Tokyo store’s 8-bit baubles, King of Games apparel, and antique consoles. It captures the full experience: the building’s maroon steps leading into Meteor, the wheezing cast iron radiator hidden in a corner, the shop owner showing off Kuske’s latest vinyl release and the DS software used to create it, the brown paper bags packed with trinkets and shirts you spent too much money on, and, finally, the walk and train ride home.

Not shown but easily imagined: the buoyancy that takes over you when you’re finally home, sitting Indian-style on the floor and pulling your new toys out of their bags so you can touch your fingertips against the plastic cartridges again, take in the scent of the pixelart book’s pages as you flip through, and scrutinize the Japanese instructions included with all the junk you bought.
