JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure figures and collectibles from AOU2010

The faces of Iggy (click for a larger version), the small but fierce coffee-flavored chewing gum addict dog who has become one of the most cherished characters from the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure series - you may know it from the several video game adaptations presented by Capcom and Namco Bandai [Editor: And the Japan-only Jump Super/Ultimate Stars fighting series on DS!].

During the latest edition of the AOU Amusement Expo, Banpresto has unveiled a series of top quality figures based on the protagonists from Hirohiko Araki’s twisted manga, whose outlandish plot is filled with references to North American and European rock music from the last four decades. In addition, the company is also taking the chance to release different items especially designed for collectors, from key chains to t-shirts and toys.

Given the popularity of the latest volumes, the manga appears to be returning to the top with an unprecedented success. Just last year, Namco awarded fans of the series with some spectacular limited edition Hanafuda card game. Earlier this month, a number of other action-figures coming from Medicom were also shown to the public, some of which still uncolored or in prototype stage.

Everyone seems to be at a loss for words when attempting to describe these outstanding new collections. Luckily, the Japanese press has been very thorough in presenting dozens of illustrative photos from the event. Prices and release dates are still TBA.

Jonathan and Joseph Joestar sculpted in homoerotic poses: for those less acquainted with the series, most of the main characters have a double Jo syllable in their names.

Josuke is depicted in an impressive and dynamic posture, while Giorno Giovanna retains his trademark triple curls above the forehead.

Jotaro and Joseph, with his trademark hat: notice the detail on Jotaro’s chest and his sexy pose, keeping his hand inside his pants.

Jolyne Kujo (the only female character to have the JoJo name) on the back and Johnny Joestar wearing the lucky horseshoe in his hat and the trendy blue slacks.

Requiem, one of Giovanna’s stands. The concept of stand, in JoJo’s universe, is that of a spiritual guardian assigned to each character. These can be summoned at will to help in fights and have the unique ability to evolve into new and more powerful forms over time.

Banpresto has also presented a series of nendoroid figures as is the case of this Golden Experience stand.

And this Giorno parody in a flashy orange suit and ladybug jewels representing good fortune.

On one of the tables, Banpresto scattered a series of inflatable toys with humorous depictions of several characters, including the Oing and Boing Stand duo.

In this key chain collection, using transparent rubber for the representation of certain elements, Banpresto included some of the lesser characters from the series as is the case of Josuke’s healing friend Crazy Diamond, named after a the famous Pink Floyd hit.
