“The Last Metroid Is In Captivity” by Patrick Prine (click for a larger version). The artist’s interpretation of Samus Aran seems so different from other fanart we’ve featured for the bounty hunter previously.
Some of you have expressed dissatisfaction with Nintendo’s new direction and look for Ms. Aran in the upcoming Metroid: Other M — which sparked this wonderful (and tasty) conversation between JC and I:
JC: Whenever people go on about Samus’s character design, I think, “Who are these people who care that much about whatever’s inside the armor?”
Eric: Yeah, I don’t understand people who invest so much of themselves in what she looks like.
JC: it could be filled with tacos, for all i care. The suit’s the important part. That would actually be a great twist ending: beat the game in under two hours to reveal a big pile of tacos.
On the topic Metroid: Other M’s Samus not looking at all like what some fans hoped for, it’s interesting to see how different her new voice actress, Jessica Martin, looks compared to the blonde and serious image we usually associate with the character:

Several people who’ve spent time with Metroid: Other M have complained about Samus’s voice actress sounding “stilted and lifeless” in the new game, but that issue didn’t seem to pop up in the most recent public trailer. Hopefully that won’t be an issue when the completed game releases in a few months!
