Muxtape’s RIAA-assisted hiatus reminded me of this neat mix we put together a while back, “we” being Candace, Mike, Dave, Chris, Alisha, JC, and myself. Great people, all around.

Maru’s “Insane Youth” was one of two tracks I contributed. I don’t listen to chiptunes much, but something about this song caught my heart’s attention, so much so that I wrote a whole sappy article about it for DS Fanboy.

I described the song as “a six-minute piece that speeds around you like a world shot in time-lapse, minutes flickering away with each frame, passing cars appearing only as ghosts with their trailing, titian eyes. The song takes you from uncertainty to urgency in its first minute and a half, testing you with its fuzzy hum before picking up its pace and volume.”
