UPDATE: IGN’s Lucas M. Thomas, in response to my complaining, went back and removed the watermarks and even added the two missing wallpapers. In short, Lucas, and IGN, are class acts and I’m a crass act.

IGN collected some, but not all, of the wallpapers from the Cave Story website. And watermarked them. Basically, they aren’t usable as wallpapers anymore, unless you don’t mind the big IGN.COM blemish.

I don’t particularly dislike IGN, and they’re certainly not the only ones who do it, but I kind of don’t care for the practice of automatically grabbing and watermarking all content, no matter its origin or whether it’s easily accessible in its unblemished form. It doesn’t seem to provide any real service to the readers.

Thinking about this and Okami, it’s clear that IGN can’t help themselves.
