Tiny Resolutions for a Tiny 2009

2008 might have been a monumentally shitty year in a lot of ways, but we’ll remember it fondly as Tiny Cartridge’s first year.
None of us had any idea if anyone would care about DS weirdness and random retro stuff, but we were lucky enough to be found by a delightful group of readers almost immediately. We’re all very gratified that you care enough to look at our website for a couple of minutes every day. Honestly, it would be fun to write Shooting Watch nonsense and link to DS game wallpapers, indie games, and weird old ads all day, but it’s so much better when we have Internet friends receiving said nonsense and linkage.
We just wanted to tell you all how much we appreciate you for being so welcoming of baby Tiny. But enough looking back: we’re going to do everything we can (well, mostly we’ll write stuff and give stuff away) to make Tiny Cartridge worth even more of your minutes in 2009. And as we work on improving the site, we’ll be improving ourselves as well. Probably. Here are our resolutions for the new year:
Alisha:
- To try not to lose my shit any time there’s zombies in a game. Note the try.
- To play some Sonic game, just to say I have, even if it was only for 4.2 seconds.
- To do something about the abysmal copyediting in video game scripts. I’m sick of seeing comma splices and worse in game text! Higher quality scripts move us one step closer to the general populace seeing games as art, and silly mistakes hold us back. How will I do this? Angry e-mails, of course. Lots. And maybe one of those online petitions. Those always work, right? Yeah? No? Shit.
Eric:
- To actually play the odd games that I spend months previewing/recommending/praising.
- To stop working for the internet, and make the internet work for me.
- To realign my priorities in such a way that I don’t spend ridiculous cash on toys that I don’t need.
JC:
- To make a good Tiny Cartridge-themed level in some game.
- To get rid of my Super Metroid store display. I know this seems very minor and specific — and not particularly character-related — but I’ve been going back and forth about this for years. 2009 is the year of me not having that thing anymore!
- To casually include a ‘your mom’ joke that will make Eric proud.
- 16 shot.
Thanks for reading, and we hope you have a rad 2009!
