Dragon Quest IX deals, yaoi
With just five days left before Dragon Quest IX and the Slime Midnight Blue DSi XL hits stores, I thought I’d feature some deals for the much-anticipated RPG. Lately, Amazon has had the best offers and prices for big releases, but the online retailer doesn’t seem to have anything special for DQIX — and it seems too late for the store to unveil anything to pick up extra preorders.
Best Buy plans to give its Reward Zone Gamers Club Members (sign up for free here) a free Slime cap, which you can see at the top of the post. The electronics shop will mail the hat to the first 7,500 Reward Zone members who pick up the game (I presume you’ll need to fill out a form online?) four to six weeks after the purchase.

Toys R Us seems to have the best DQIX offer, as it promises to hand out $15 gift cards to anyone who buys the game at one of its stores this Sunday. And if you purchase any color DSi XL with your DQIX copy, you’ll receive a $25 gift card.
GameStop is currently running a sale that lets you take 20 percent off any orders totaling $29.99 or over, so you can snag DQIX for around $28 (plus tax) with free shipping. Just use the code “20FGS” before the end of the month.
Speaking of GameStop, the retail chain is holding a special event on July 31st, where you will be able to download a “Special Event Map” for Dragon Quest IX. You can read more details and find out if any nearby locations are holding the event here.
