Gorilla plays with a DSi XL, captured by Christina Spicuzza (click for a larger image). The story behind this photo is a young boy accidentaly dropped his handheld into the gorilla enclosure at the San Francisco Zoo yesterday.

The larger gorilla here picked up the maroon system to examine it and see what it was all about. He held the Nintendo DSi XL’s screens up to his face, flipped the portable around, and pressed his ears against the speakers whilst a younger gorilla — all primate kids love video games — waited for his turn to tinker with it.

An animal trainer eventually lured the big gorilla over and traded an apple for the handheld. The DSi XL’s owner managed to retrieve his system, and while it was “a little beaten up and slobbered”, it still worked!
