Retro Game Master DVD set out September 18:

Discotek Media’s US DVD release of Retro Game Master, the localized Game Center CX, will be out September 18. It comes with the 12 Kotaku episodes, Mighty Bomb Jack, Ninja Gaiden 2, and Shiren the Wanderer.

September 18 is just about perfect for me to order a copy and have it arrive in time for my birthday. Good release date.

Launch trailer for the 3DS version of Rayman Origins, which received an eShop demo (30 playthroughs) today! Game & Watch Gallery 2 (GBC) releases for 3DS Virtual Console next week. eShop is getting awesome again!

There are rumors that when the full version of Rayman Origins releases to stores, it will also have a download version on eShop. It’s all due to this press release text:

“The full version of the game will be available at retailers and online on June 5, 2012.”

I think the likely scenario, though, is that “online” refers to sites like Amazon and other online retailers.

This Saturday is Kid Icarus: Uprising Multiplayer Battle Day around the world. Still deciding if I want to let people destroy me in person.

EX Troopers trailer. This is really bizarre! I admit I’m not the biggest Lost Planet expert, but I never would have seen the connection had I not already known to look for it.

Following yesterday’s magazine reveal, Capcom has opened a Japanese site, where you can meet the cast (who look kinda Valkyria X Phantasy Star Online) and download icons and other images of their character art. Man, this is weird. Oh, yeah, and it’s 3DS/PS3. WEIRD.

First look at Capcom’s E.X. Troopers, a new 3DS and PlayStation 3 game set in the same world as the Lost Planet series. The chap pictured here is producer Shintaro Kojima, who previously put in work for the Monster Hunter series.

According to Famitsu, E.X. Troopers is meant to be a beginners’ action shooter, and follows the adventures of snow pirates fighting the Akrid on E.D.N. III. I’ve no idea what that means, but Lost Planet fans probably understand it.

Development is 60 percent complete. Capcom’s given no indication the game will release in the West yet.

Kingdom Hearts 3D’s Mark of Mystery Edition, releasing in North America on July 31 for $54.99.

The limited edition package includes the following:

a copy of Kingdom Hearts 3D
a branded clear hard case skin cover
set of 12 art cards meant to reflect the history of the Kingdom Hearts series
set of five augmented reality cards to unlock rare Dream Eaters and more
and a branded magnetic box to keep it all in

It’s not the special edition 3DS that Japan got, but I don’t think anyone really expected that in the States anyway.

Kenka Bancho Bros. Battle Royale trailer. As a PSP game, this has no chance of ever being localized, but I am so down for synchronized street fighting with an AI-controlled Bro! It’s sort of like River City Ransom EX, but set in a fictionalized Tokyo and with much better choreography.

English trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. Obsessive fans of the series probably saw this trailer hours ago — then again, those obsessive fans probably imported and completed the game months ago, too — but I’m sharing it anyway because the amount of voice acting here is impressive. I wonder if Square Enix shelled out the big bucks for Jeff Bridges’ voice?

3DS firmware, Mario Kart 7 updated:

Your online Mario Kart 7 racing experience should now be filled with less cheaters, thanks to a patch released last night that fixes the shortcut glitches in Maka Wuhu, Wuhu Loop, and GBA Bowser Castle 1. You won’t be able to play online without downloading this update from the eShop.

A 3DS firmware update was also made available last night, updating the system software to version 4.1.0-8. In case you’re wondering what the deal is with this update, users haven’t reported any major changes so far, except for the ability to access the System Update option while parental controls are turned on, without a PIN. So… the only thing this system update affects is system updates. Cool.

Super Mario MicroSD card reader and mouse/mouse pad set. Eric and I both agreed that, while we don’t need any more MicroSD card readers, it’s hard to resist one shaped like a warp pipe, with a little slider to make Mario or Luigi pop out. It’s enough to make me start using MicroSD cards day-to-day, just to give myself an excuse.

I also don’t need a ball mouse and an irregular-shaped mousepad, but… I kinda do… Both are shipping from NCSX in September, at $30.90 each.

Gamecube-to-Wii ports Pikmin 2, Mario Power Tennis join Nintendo Selects

Three years after Nintendo released New Play Control! Pikmin 2 in Japan and Europe, the GameCube-to-Wii port is finally hitting the States. Making up for the delay, the will be sold for $19.99 under Wii’s Nintendo Selects label starting June 10. Mario Power Tennis will also join value line and see a similar discount.

Also getting discounts soon, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Donkey Kong Country Returns will both be sold with an MSRP of $29.99. So, if you own a Wii but have somehow managed to not pick those up, now you can for cheap.

Funghi iPhone cases, available from Strapya. After the release of Touch Detective and its sequel on iPhone, Funghi is totally a thing now – whereas before he just looked like one. There’s a spinoff game, Mushroom Gardening Kit, about growing Funghi and various other suggestive-looking mushroom pals, aaaaaaaand a bunch of spinoff merchandise, like these cases.
