Hudson's summer T-shirt campaign →

Hudson’s “16 Shot x Popular Street Brand Collaboration T-shirt” series is available from now through June 30 for just ¥1,000 ($10.25) a shirt. They normally go for an incredible ¥6,090 ($62.43) each.

I’d love to have one of those “16 Shot Legend” shirts. And the super-colorful Caravan shirt. And, you know, the other ones as well. But they don’t ship overseas.

Takahashi Meijin demonstrates how to recreate his Mii. It doesn’t seem like a perfect representation, but … it’s official, and therefore awesome and totally worth having in your Mii parade. And it’s somewhat more accurate than Hudson’s NES rendering.

“In shooting games, if you want to get high scores, you shoot the enemies as soon as they appear on the screen. But if I did that, the audience would just see the bullets and the explosions.

So I wait until the ship is halfway down the screen before I shoot it. You can’t get a high score that way, but it looks more exciting.”

Takahashi Meijin, longtime Hudson PR executive, gaming celebrity, and hero, in a Wired interview. Posting an interview with Takahashi is like flashing the Tiny Signal.

Takahashi Meijin, who can tap a controller button 16 times in a second (and who can make watermelons explode with this talent), demonstrates his finger exercises.

“Famicom Taisou, Famicom Taisou,
Shinakucha naranai”

“Famicom Exercise, Famicom Exercise,
You must do it”

Sounds better in Japanese or when translated by someone who isn’t me.

Now use those nimble fingers to click on this link to Brandon Sheffield’s incredibly focused interview with the Meijin, in which they discuss topics like the origin of the Shooting Carnival, and how a failed deal with Sharp led Hudson to become the first Famicom third party.
