DSi Shop concept by Adam “Atomic” Saltsman (Canabalt).

Saltsman originally tweeted that this was a “leaked” image from Nintendo, but we checked with him to confirm that, yes, this is something he designed after experiencing frustration with the DSi Shop interface. He noted that this would require less data to load, and thus would allow for much quicker browsing.

…What does it say about your focus-tested, streamlined UI when “just a list” would work unequivocally better?

By the way, if you feel like giving Adam a very small sum of money (in exchange for a game) his company Semi Secret just launched an iPhone/iPad version of the turn-based dogfighting game Steambirds.

Buy: Special Edition Red Nintendo DSi XL bundle, Nintendo DSi XL (Blue, Burgundy, & Bronze), Standard Nintendo DSi (White, Pink, Black, & Blue)

Gravity Hook HD →

Canabalt creators Adam Atomic and Danny Baranowsky have released an updated version of the Flash game Gravity Hook, with the implication of an iPhone port on the way. Gravity Hook HD features the same gameplay as the original game, in which you click to grapple onto floating spheres, slingshotting past them to raise yourself to new heights.

But this one is infinitely better, because in Gravity Hook HD, not every damn orb is a bomb. If you want to try the update to the game about which noted website tinycartridge.com said “I’ve been loading the game up every other hour…” click here and be ready for a moderate amount of frustration.

Outer Wall from Cave Story’s WiiWare port.

This new version of “Moonsong” sounds great! Thankfully, if you don’t like Nicalis’ reworked songs, you can choose to play the game with the original soundtrack.

On a related note, if you haven’t yet, you should check out Fathom, the latest Flash game from Adam “Atomic” Saltsman, who happens to be working on the high-res graphics for the Cave Story port. Fathom certainly seems inspired by Cave Story (at first), but there’s more to it!

Gravity Hook →

Gravity Hook has been available online for some time now, but Christian Nutt pointed me to it earlier today, and I’ve been loading the game up every other hour since!

I could see something like this working really well on the DS (or iPhone)! For now, it’s available as a free Flash game, courtesy of programmer Adam Atomic and composer Danny Baranowsky.
