More pizza and a new Anamanaguchi music video

“Girls come and go, but pizza is forever.”

Anamanaguchi’s new album streaming on Youtube

I stream like 80% of the music I listen to at my desk on Youtube, so it’s awesome that Anamanaguchi just threw Endless Fantasy on there for anyone to listen to for free!

If you prefer reading about chiptune stuff over listening to the music — or maybe you’re into reading about chiptune junk while listening to it — there are two articles I haven’t read but will link anyway: The Charms of Chiptune (New Yorker) and Anamanaguchi - The Ninja Turtles of Rock (Polygon).

Space Wax America (from ENDLESS FANTASY out May 14th)

Another joint from the new album, which drops any day now. I’m pumped for this, especially after hearing that the 22-track release will feature a number of guest vocalists — you all know that vox chip is my shit. The chiptune band also intends to re-release Endless Fantasy’s instrumental tracks with vocal remixes.

Help make Anamanaguchi’s Endless Fantasy more than an album
Anamanaguchi’s new album and tour kick off really soon, but the chiptune group just launched a Kickstarter to give you more than just another collection of MP3s on your hard drive or a loud show to go to.
If it manages to raise $50,000, the band plans to put out more music videos (see “Meow”), add wild lighting setups to its performances, collab with artists and musicians, put together more interactive web projects, and more.
You’ll get some great pledge rewards for your donations: digital preorders for Endless Fantasy, shirts, posters (the Cory Schmitz/Mare Odomo joint above), vinyl copies of the album, the band’s Game Boys/modded NESes, chiptune workshops, and even Anamanaguchi’s frickin’ van.

Planet (from ENDLESS FANTASY out MAY 14th)

Another new track from Anamanaguchi’s new album, which now has a release date — Endless Fantasy will hit on May 14. Love the album art, too.

♫ Meow ♫ Anamanaguchi’s new single, music video

What is even going on in this video? You have Dark Moon Goths inducting Luke, a go kart race that leaves Peter decapitated, Tumblr employees working the concession stand, some awesome animation, and even a tease of Paul Robertson cats. The song is reckless, too!

You can cop the single for a buck and change at iTunes — the group’s new album, Endless Fantasy, drops this spring.

Today (Smashing Pumpkins) - Anamanaguchi

Today (Smashing Pumpkins)

Anamanaguchi • Scott Pilgrim Demos

The Smashing Pumpkins’ “Today” covered by Anamanaguchi. This isn’t a full song unfortunately, just a rare Scott Pilgrim demo the chiptune group was asked to put together. Perhaps in an alternate world, there is a better, happier version of me listening to a completed version of the track.

Even if this cuts short, this is just the best — it makes today feel like the greatest day. There should be a song about that feeling.

Tommy Kruse

“Tommy Kruse” by Peter Berkman. Speaking of Chip’n Dale tunes (minus Dale’s goofy ass), here is a new one from Anamanaguchi’s frontman.

It’s really chill stuff, a track you can just listen to in your room while you construct your next great Magic the Gathering deck or somethin’. Like a T1 deck, ‘cause you’re not even trying to be serious about it. Maybe throw a Balance in there. Get yourself a Sol Ring. It’s whatever, you know. Just some fun shit you can play with your bros.

Anamanaguchi and USK (of Portalenz) bringing down the house at Tokyo Blip Fest 2011. This was one of my favorite videos I ever posted to GameSetWatch, which you might have heard is no more. I thought a lot about this performance today, but I don’t know why. I wish I was in that crowd here, that I was a part of this.

I wish I could have come up with some mind-blowing posts to end GameSetWatch’s run with, but instead, if you go there now or anytime in the future, you’ll see a round-up about pinball, some Katsuya Terada art, a funny look at blue and orange video game covers (from the awesome Danny Cowan), and a mock-up of Ponyo for GBC.

I need to make it out to a Blip Fest one of these days.

Let It Bleep: Anamanaguchi x Beatles mash-up art by Bryan Lee O’Malley (of Scott Pilgrim fame).
The Brooklyn-based boy band popped up on Last Call with Carson Daly the other night, by the way — watch them pretend to play arcade games and shove dudes here.
