Wonderful Dragon Quest fanart by Zac Gorman
This will be featured at iam8bit’s gallery show opening tomorrow in Los Angeles! More than 80 artists have provided pieces for the exhibit, which is nuts.
Square Enix has put out a list detailing a portion of the games it will show at E3 next week, but the tally doesn’t include any of Wii U or 3DS’s Dragon Quest games — there’s not even a mention of Bravely Default, though that may be because Nintendo is publishing it in the U.S. I’ll be very disappointed if we don’t hear anything about Dragon Quest X, Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry’s Wonderland 3D, Slime MoriMori Dragon Quest 3, or Dragon Quest VII.

Buy these zines if you are a cool person

Cool people — or as I like to call you, Tiny Cartridge followers — these are both releases you should be interested in:

If you have your own zine or something else awesome in the works, let us know and we’ll promote it on our Upcoming Releases page (if it’s awesome/relevant).

Where are you, b-b-buddy?
Just one more week left until you can restart that cycle of moving to a new town, settling into a home of your own, making new friends, and eventually leaving it all behind you without a warning.
This comic is another piece originally submitted to but not included in Animal Cosszine, illustrated by Mathew New. There’s now a limited supply of Animal Crosszine print copies available or sale, by the way! Digital copies are still $5 too.

Tom Nook started from the bottom…
Now the guy’s charging a ton for you to live here. He doesn’t even run the general/convenience store in Animal Crossing: New Leaf anymore — Tom lets his nephews manage that while he oversees most of the town’s construction work. Pretty sure both of these businesses are money laundering operations.
Anyway, this pixelart comes from Mae. The piece didn’t make it into Animal Crosszine, but I think it’s awesome so I’m featuring it here. She has some nice photos and art on her blog, if you’re into following people on Tumblr with nice photos and art.

Animal Crossing's Rover on edge
This is the just the first part from Dan Zazzera’s three-page “Restless Rover” comic, which takes you through the anxieties and internal chastisement the cat suffers whenever he meets a new Animal Crossing player.
The comic is featured in the recently published and shipped Animal Crosszine. You can buy a digital copy right now, and physical editions will probably be available for sale again next week.

NYU Game Center X Attract Mode

If you’re in the area and into indie games, NYU Game Center will hold its 4th Annual No Quarter exhibition tonight (7PM), which features “commissioned work from established and emerging independent developers, who have all been challenged to create games for a social, gallery setting.”

It will also showcase and sell artwork from talented folks inspired by indie games, like the above Nidhogg and BaraBariBall pieces from Kyle Fewell and Hamlet Machine (the logo is from Cory Schmitz). You can RSVP here and find more info at the event’s Facebook page.

Cat and consoles by Kyle Fewell
One of many wonderful pieces appearing at Attract Mode’s Comics Vs. Games 2 event at The Toronto Comic Arts Festival running from May 11 to 12.
If this cat and game systems look familiar, we featured them about a year ago with another Kyle Fewell illustration!

Fire Emblem x Etrian Odyssey x Soul Hackers

We’ve yet to see anything substantial for Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem, but here’s some fun Atlus crossover fanart I came across this morning. First we have Chrom clashing with an Etrian Odyssey Landnsknecht, drawn by Tora Plu. And after that is another Etrian Odyssey mash-up, this time with Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers, from 怪奇( ゚д゚ )くろ男.

It’s turning into a very Etrian Odyssey day… Maybe a sign that I need to bounce back into EOIV and try to plow through that six hours of progress I lost after forgetting to save.

Fantastic Lucina pencils/watercolor art by Jenninaitsu

Is it okay to talk about/identify this character yet? Everyone’s already played the game, right? And it’s not like we all weren’t spoiled about her whole deal forever ago.

Anyway, this is a great companion piece to the last amazing Jenninaitsu piece we featured.

Robot Ninja Haggle Man 3 by Nina Matsumoto
Much like Indies Zero/Gears did when developing Haggle Man 3, Nina referenced Ninja Gaiden heavily for this sick commissioned piece. Apparently someone will be making a Famicom cartridge label out of the art? If you’re that someone, make sure to send us the results!
