Shin Megami Tensei IV’s samurai don’t seem too traditional, based on their “way” shown here. I don’t recall any Kurosawa films in which the samurai vanquished demons, recruited navigational AIs, or downloaded demon fusion apps.
Nice English voice acting, though!

Etrian Odyssey IV owners, here’s one more quest you can send your party to complete in the game, if you don’t mind taking orders from some Tumblr blog’s mascot. Though you’ll need to have reached The Hall of Darkness (6th Maze) to access the quest, if you’re not at that point yet, you’ll have this whole weekend to fight your way there! :oP
I was supposed to post this forever ago, I know, but at least more of you will have played enough of the game to be able to unlock the quest now! Much thanks to @oliviactually and @kamiwoo for their help.

Ahead of Shin Megami Tensei IV’s release in Japan next week (where Famitsu just gave the 3DS game a 37/40, which probably means nothing or maybe something or whatever), Atlus posted these nice pieces from guest artists like Tomomi Kobayashi, Hideo Minaba, Enami Katsumi, and Mitsumi Inomata.
And over in North America, Atlus put out this new English trailer for the game:
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There’s a truth in your eyes sayin’ you’ll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you’ll catch me if ever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all

All right, I typically don’t get down with retailer-exclusive pre-order bonuses, but this is way too good.
“In addition to the Limited Edition Box Set, capture the spirit of the Amazon package with its cardboard color, signature smile logo, and bar code is this imaginative upper body armor for the Eastern Kingdom of Mikado’s Samurai.”
So if you pre-order, you get the limited edition box set, and this limited edition box jacket. If you’re concerned about silly costumes violating the immersion or whatever, let me just say NEO FEATHERMAN.

Nai points out, “This lil NPC was always talking about her dad and how he taught her things when suddenly her lines were updated to this.”

This trailer has some spoilers, but if you’ve already played the original Etrian Odyssey game that this 3DS remake is based on, this is worth watching anyway for the animation by Madhouse (Trigun, Paprika).
The animated scenes are a nice addition to the game, made possible by its pre-made characters (instead of party members created by players). Millennium Maiden, however, will feature a Classic Mode that lets players make their own characters — they can also swap the new orchestral soundtrack with FM synth-style music.

This seemed like just another niche 3DS JRPG when it was first revealed for the U.S., but with each new piece Atlus unveils for it — first the packed limited edition set to justify its premium $50 price, and now this serious business trailer — it’s looked like a bigger deal.

Pretty much every Atlus release is gold when it comes to finding screenshots you want to share online (original pic is courtesy of Sugarbloodsucker, by the way). Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers really earned its M-rating.

I might argue that $50 for a role-playing game that will probably last over 100 hours is worth it, but regardless, the “premium” $50 price tag Atlus put on Shin Megami Tensei 4 seemed unusual.
Until I saw what they’re doing. Each copy of the first printing comes with all this stuff, including a huge strategy/design book and an SMT series soundtrack.
Of course, it’ll probably still be $50 after that printing, when all you’ll get is a giant RPG.

Like Etrian Odyssey IV, the upcoming EO: Millennium Maiden will features orchestral music, and not the FM synth many enjoyed in the first three games. I can’t complain after hearing this Yuzo Koshiro track grabbed from the 3DS remake’s official Japanese site.
