DS/3DS Release Dates & Sales // Tiny Cartridge Stickers For Your Games!

Hope and change come to Street Fighter Online Mouse Generation, in the form of this downloadable character, who is supposed to evoke Barack Obama, but looks more like Arnold Schwarzenegger with a George Hamil-tan.

Publisher Daletto is also offering downloadable “chocolate” fighters, in honor of Valentine’s Day, which is celebrated in Japan with candy-related violence.

“Puts you into the shoes of President Obama. (He won’t be needing them while he’s walking on water.)”

This was the hook for a press release that greeted me when, late in the night, as I was unable to sleep, I dug through my RSS. The game is Commander in Chief (PC), a political sim by IGS.

The above quote is not in the release itself; instead, it was written by the Games Press folks, so it’s just a blurb and it exists outside of direct context. Is it simple humor, or is there a tone of mild bitterness beneath? Was this single line written by someone who pined for John McCain? Am I just really odd and a little extreme at 3:00 in the morning? We’ll never know.

But what’s funnier is that the game will be released on inauguration day. Do we do this, cashing in on the presidential inauguration? Is this a thing we do? Hell, if election day was any indication, we’re all going to be too busy partying to buy some random game anyway.

Unless you’re like these people, I guess:

Homebrew game brings Obama presidential campaign to DS →

Obama Says: Yes We Can is a Simon Says clone accompanied by will.i.am’s music single inspired by the Democratic presidential candidate’s New Hampshire primary speech. It’s not an enjoyable game, which I’ll explain shortly, but it’s interesting for a few reasons:

  • Other than Olympic Battlefields, there are very few DS titles that address political issues
  • It creatively exposes people to Obama’s rhetoric
  • It’s a stark contrast to programmer Multiple:Option’s last release, Sexy Blackjack Trainer, a strip blackjack game starring adult movie stars Sunny Leone and Sora Aoi
  • Propaganda with rumble support!

The game generates a random pattern of buttons for players to input, with difficulty ramping up depending on your performance. Because the gameplay portion has no effect on the top screen’s visuals or Obama’s speech, though, it seems like there’s little reward for playing along, save the score screen at the end.

Also, this is a terrible song. will.i.am should leave sampled mixes to DJ Premier and other more capable artists.
