Tiny Cartridge 3DS

Amazon just upped the store credit it’s giving to customers who preorder Pokemon Black or White from $5 to $10. Now, if you put in a reservation for either version of the upcoming game (system bundles not included), you’ll receive $10 to buy other junk at the online shop — and if you get both versions, you’ll pick up a $20 credit.

While we’re talking about monsters of the pocket variety, today is the last day you’ll be able to buy the “Top Percentage” shirt you see above from the fine folks at FYPBlog ($24 U.S., $30 international, shipping included).

Since I haven’t played a Pokemon since Red/Blue, I had no idea what the joke on this shirt is referring to. Having researched the meme and seen the Facebook page, though, I am now thorougly amused by all this.

I know most of you are already digging deep in your pockets to pay for a 3DS and its pricey launch games, but if for some reason you want to buy a limited edition DSi with Pokémon Black and White three weeks before the new portable hits, Amazon is taking preorders for the bundle.

The bundles include a Black or White Nintendo DSi etched with a Reshiram or Zekrom design, a matching carrying case, and a copy of the game — all for $179.99!

Or you can just get forget the bundle and get Pokemon Black or White for only $34.99, and score a $5 promotional credit from Amazon. Both the games and bundles will hit stores on March 6.

Pokémon Black and White releasing on March 6th.

Six months after its Japanese debut, Black and White will hit the States next March, the two variants selling for $34.99 each. For those of you who’ve forgotten, the game adds over 150 new Pokémon to catch and a new region (Unova/New York City) to explore.

Along with three new Starter Pokémon — Fire-type Tepig, Water-type Oshawott, and Grass-type Smugleaf Snivy — this fifth generation game introduces a number of aesthetic changes, a seasonal cycle, triple battles, rotation battles, Pokémon musicals, C-Gear wireless features, the Pokémon Dream World, and more.

DSi owners can also take advantage of the Live Caster item, which allows you to audio- and video-chat with up to three other players, both locally and online.

Pokémon Black and White's characters and starter creatures popping out of an old DS Phat (click for a larger image). Why should the Nintendo 3DS have all the fun with fanart mockups of games jumping out its screens?
Anyway, this game releases in Japan in less than a month! And in the rest of the world next spring…

New Pokémon trainer designs and their awful fashion sense. Yes, two Pokémon posts in a row! Along with revealing its starter monsters for the upcoming Black and White releases earlier this week, Nintendo shared this image of its new male and character trainer designs.
Now, I know that these characters are just kids, and when you’re a kid, you’re allowed to dress like a dickhead, but real talk: who wears a jacket that doesn’t start zipping until right below your chest? And slapping on your Pokémon Watch over the cuff of your jacket? Who does that?!
My only comment about Pokémon B/W's female trainer is that she's wearing Daisy Dukes, which means I'm obligated to embed this NSFW music video in my post:

Ohhhhh snap, I used to watch this video on The Box like four times a day when I was a kid. I totally forgot about when they bring the robot voice in, right after they bring that funky track back.

Another letter from Ash Ketchum to his estranged dad, by Maré Odomo (click for larger image). This is the fourth strip from the artist’s heartbreaking series, Letters To An Absent Father, which he started with the intention of creating only four short comics.
I guess I should mention that Nintendo announced Pokémon Black and White, its fifth generation of Pokémon games, for the DS last night. The game is expected to release this fall in Japan, so expect it to hit North America some time next spring or summer. I wonder if Nintendo plans to include any 3DS functionality in these new titles? That would be the thing to do, you know.
Anyway, the bigger news to me is that Maré Odomo is considering making more of these Dear Dad strips. Joy!
