Yesss, Blaster Master on 3DS VC ⊟
I loved this on NES, though I never finished it to my knowledge. Today on the eShop, you can get Blaster Master, a Metroidvania-esque game about a kid who loses his frog, then finds a tank, then decides to shoot everything he can find with the tank.
You can always keep up with the new eShop releases on our Releases page… as soon as I’ve finished updating it.
Meanwhile, on Wii U, the excellent Ufouria is out. Why two Sunsoft games at once? I don’t really know how the VC release schedule works, and I’m pretty sure Nintendo doesn’t really want to talk to me about it.
BUY Nintendo 2DS & 3DS/XL, upcoming games
For the Frog the Bell Tolls, the rad Game Boy RPG by Intelligent Systems, is going to be officially re-released on 3DS Virtual Console on Japan. That totally won’t happen here, because the English version only exists as a great fan translation, but it’s worth pointing out if only to remind you guys of the great fan translation!
It’ll be out September 5, along with Kirby’s Pinball Land and Cho Wakusei Senki Meta Fight, known here as Blaster Master! Man, what a killer week. In Japan.

Blaster Master: Enemy Below for Game Boy Color. The Japanese version of this game, Meta Fight EX, comes out on that country’s 3DS eShop next week.
This week (in Japan), it’s Bionic Commando, another Game Boy sequel to an NES classic. I’ve played neither, and I love both NES predecessors, so I’m way interested in seeing these make their way to my 3DS.
As for eShop/DSiWare releases in North America today, we get 3D Classics: Kirby’s Adventure (!), Escape Trick: Convenience Store, and Play and Learn Chinese.

Blaster Master's Sophia the Third in Super Mario Bros. Crossover! This addition makes the game look much easier, what with the ability to hang from the ceiling and shoot Bowser in the face, but, oh, the novelty of wrecking enemies with a hovering tank and its multi-warhead missiles!
Coder Jay Pavlina intends to release the Blaster Master update for Super Mario Bros. Crossover later this month. Someone turn this into a DS game already!

You can see more of these for games like F-Zero and Mario Kart at IGN — they’re even available in somewhat high-res versions, so you can print them out or use them as a desktop background if your monitor’s not too big…
