Yogurt is great for calcium! Resident Evil: Revelations, not so much. The two unlikely companions, though, join together in this commercial for the 3DS game in France.

Here’s another spot of a poshly dressed lady, just walking around a cruise ship playing her Nintendo 3DS.

Shots from a Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney cutscene, showing Phoenix and Maya on a flight to London, animated by Bones (who you might remember is also animating Grasshopper Manufacture’s shooter in Guild01).

No new details about the game for the moment, but it’s still slated to release in Japan for 3DS this year.

Ace Attorney 5 announced at Capcom’s 10th anniversary event for the series in Tokyo last night. The company didn’t bother to provide critical details like a release date, information about the story, or whether this will be an Apollo Justice or Phoenix Wright joint, but expect to hear more about all that in the coming weeks/months.

And while we didn’t hear anything about what system(s) it will appear on, given that the game’s primary platforms so far were Game Boy Advance and DS — and that we also have Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney coming to 3DS — it’s likely this will hit Nintendo’s new handheld first.

Capcom reveals price deflaiton for RE:R →

You might recall Capcom intended to sell Resident Evil: Revelations for $50, reasoning that the game required a bigger cartridge (4GB) that justified its $10 mark-up.

Everyone thought that was ridiculous, but the publisher ended up changing its mind anyway. A representative posted an announcement today: “After weeks of effort, we’ve been able to lower the price to $39.99.” Who knows what those efforts entailed, but yay.

Amazon hasn’t adjusted its price yet, but I expect it will update the game’s listing soon, so I linked it above. You will notice that I misspelled deflation in the link/headline, making fun of the game’s boxart typo. I am just too clever, aren’t I? I am the cleverest boy there ever was.

Resident Evil: Revelations has a typo on the spine of its U.S. box… Or does it? Another Capcom/Level-5 crossover!

Bloody inside cover for Resident Evil: Revelations in Portugal. For a second, I thought this was the first third-party game to feature inside art on the slip, but then I remembered that Nintendo is co-distributing this in Europe, and even bundling it with a Circle Pad Pro, so I guess that’s why this release gets the special treatment.

By the way, have you guys all downloaded the Resident Evil: Revelations demo from the eShop yet? What do you think? I’m still waiting for the file to download on my 3DS.

If that demo wasn’t enough to satiate you, here’s a new five-minute trailer and some new bullshots.

Resident Evil: Revelations demo hits 3DS eShop in U.S., Europe tomorrow

Several weeks after demos appeared on the 3DS eShop in Japan, the free trials will finally debut in North America and Europe, starting tomorrow with Resident Evil: Revelations (Europe will also get a Cooking Mama 4 demo). The U.S. will receive a Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games demo next week, too.

In press releases sent out today, Nintendo also promised to deliver limited trials for Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D, Rayman Origins, and Rhythm Thief & the Emperor’s Treasure — release dates for those will be revealed later.

Meanwhile in Japan, 3DS owners will receive a second demo for Theatrhythm Final Fantasy some time in early February. The final game will have downloadable songs.

Selections from the new Capcom Bar menu. The restaurant, a joint venture between karaoke chain Pasela and Capcom, will serve a variety of meals based on Monster Hunter, Sengoku Basara, Resident Evil, and Ace Attorney when it opens January 25 in Shinjuku.

I will definitely go to this place around TGS time. I expect to chow down on a Samurai Dog and some strong, strong Godot Blend #102.

RE: Revelations' StreetPass detailed →

Doing its part to make sure you carry your 3DS around everywhere, Capcom has thrown in a StreetPass feature in Resident Evil: Revelations that will net you new enemies and missions for the game’s co-op Raid Mode, as well as parts for customizing weapons, when you pass other RE: Revelations players in real life.

The custom parts look like the usual stuff, upgrades for increasing your firepower, ammo capacity, etc. The StreetPass missions offer rewards that you can use in the campaign (e.g. herbs, money, extra clips for extra shit).

Here’s a silly way to jury rig a physical directional pad onto the virtual camera controls in Monster Hunter Tri-G (if you’re not using the Circle Pad Pro/Frankenstick)!

That blue gel-like material is a “shock absorbable pad” commonly used in Japan under furniture, electronics, and appliances to prevent them from tipping over during an earthquake. They’re pretty cheap, too.

On the topic of the Circle Pad Pro, remember those reports about it having a battery life of around 480 hours on a single AAA, according to the Japanese manual? Someone actually tore down the peripheral, examined its innards, measured its power consumption, and found that it could last quite a bit longer — conceivably up to 540 hours of continuous use! That’s a lot of Monster Hunter.

Photos of the limited edition Monster Hunter Tri-G 3DS and the Circle Pad Pro/Expansion Slide Pad/Frankenstick together (click for larger images).

Even though the Circle Pad Pro only comes in black, it doesn’t look bad with a White 3DS…  which would mean more if we had that color in the U.S.. It likely won’t look as nice on the Aqua Blue, Coral Pink, or Flame Red systems.

Biohazard x Briefing “Mission Liner” bag, shipping from e-Capcom in March. This looks like a super handy way to carry your herbs, typewriter ink ribbons, and I don’t actually have that many other Resident Evil references.

The nice-looking bag includes a card case and a shoulder strap cover, and sells for holy crap ¥54,600 ($702). In other words, it’s not for the hobbyist zombie hunter.
