Here’s Sherlock Holmes in the Great Ace Attorney ⊟
The little girl is Capcom’s version of Watson, a pink-haired 8 year old. Don’t underestimate her, though — Iris Watson is a genius with a medical Ph.D., and the author of novel series The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.
The 3DS game is set to release in Japan next spring. Thanks to Kotaku for posting these scans and details from the latest issue of Famitsu.
Sherlock Holmes [may be] in the Great Ace Attorney ⊟
[Update: I should point out, of course, that we’re not 100% sure the Famitsu leak is accurate; we’ll find out when we see scans or when Capcom announces this on the 11th. The silhouette above is official but the characters are still unnamed.]
With a version of Watson, called Iris, who is a) eight years old and b) still a doctor. You keep doing you, Ace Attorney. The news comes from a Famitsu leak (thx Gematsu) and teased by silhouettes on the official website.
I’m just coming off Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, and I’m definitely jazzed about an 1800s version of English Detective and Clueless Lawyer. Although by definition Sherlock Holmes isn’t as much of a gentleman as the Professor. A new “Joint Reasoning” system allows players to decode mysteries by identifying when Holmes goes too far in his reasoning (something like “to the other side of the truth”).
The downside of this is that Tumblr’s going to learn there is more than one interpretation of Sherlock Holmes.
Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright out next week ⊟
August 29, to be exact! The U.S. launch comes only 22 months after the Japanese release, and five months after its European/Australian debut. It’ll come out to the eShop and retail stores — preorder it for $30 here. Art via iwo.
Capcom “touching up” localization of Ace Attorney Trilogy ⊟
You got me, Capcom. I will happily buy the Ace Attorney games again. I wasn’t particularly interested in the 3DS ports, but Capcom’s localization team (led by localization director Janet Hsu, who posted this info on Capcom-Unity) went back through and fixed up the text. Hsu outlined some changes:
"We have re-mastered the sound effects and background music, and yes, we’ve even proof-read the text again! Rejoice, for the miracle did happen! Finally! …Not that that’s something I should be saying too loudly… *hangs head in shame*
All joking aside, the translation has received a much needed touch-up job, including some re-translations that I hope will help the dialogue flow more naturally, and tweaks that should make some of the more difficult cross-examinations easier to solve using, dare I say… LOGIC *gasp!*”
But if you want to avoid the localization entirely, you can do that. The 3DS release has the full Japanese text as well! How awesome! Ready to learn hella puns and legal vocabulary in Japanese? I’m not, but I’m damn sure gonna try!
These Ghost Trick iPhone cases ⊟
This is the hot look for iPhones. All the Ghost Trick characters dancing with that one nervous cop. The cat one is pretty amazing too. Man, what a game that is.
These, and many other classic Capcom designs, are on pre-order through e-Capcom. No idea if they’ll be sold outside of Japan, but NCSX tends to get some e-Capcom goods…
Here’s that solid gold Felyne statue you wanted for your house ⊟
You know, for that weird little triangular shelf on the landing of your stairs. It’s only 2,990,000 yen ($29163 fucking US American dollars). Act now, because only ten of these actual 24-carat gold statues of a thing from a video game are being produced, and they will go quickly here in the real world that we live in and I am not kidding.
Yup, you can play Link dress-up with MH4U in the West too ⊟
So we knew the Japanese version of this 3DS game featured a Nintendo collab to offer Link’s armor set and weapons in Japan, so it’s no surprise that Capcom just announced the same will be true in North America. The publisher also says it has more special equipment announcements coming soon.
So much Monster Hunter 4G crap ⊟
With Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate announced for Japan, here comes an overwhelming monster-sized assortment of tie-in items. Literally tied in (as in attached to the game) is the limited edition, which comes with four figurines and a random plush when purchased from e-Capcom.
There are also way too many accessories, like screen cleaners, SD cards?, stickers, cases, earphones, this treasure chest looking thing… Anyway, go ahead and throw all of your Monster Hunter 4 accessories in the trash, because there are 4G items now. Via Ruliweb.
Capcom’s trying again with Gaist Crusher ⊟
Hey, if it means Treasure’s getting work, I’m cool with Capcom taking another shot at its 3DS transmedia/game series Gaist Crusher with “Gaist Crusher God,” coming out this September in Japan.
Like the original, Gaist Crusher God is a brawler that interfaces with a toy line, and has four-player co-op. I haven’t seen any new toys, but the original ones were neat Transformer things that unlocked in-game gear.

Naturally, you’ll need a digital copy of the game, one we hope you procured in a somewhat legal manner with a purchased copy (you can buy the import game here).
E3 megaton: Mighty Final Fight, Gargoyle’s Quest 2, Street Fighter 2010 coming to 3DS VC ⊟
Capcom just announced a bunch of Virtual Console games on the first day of E3. I cannot believe this happened, and I love it.
So! SD fighter Mighty Final Fight, platformer RPG (and fucking cool game) Gargoyle’s Quest 2, and game I don’t remember all that well Street Fighter 2010 will be released on VC for 3DS in North America and Europe. Europe will also get the Mega Man Game Boy games around August.
Wii U gets Mega Man Battle Network 1, 2, and 3, Mega Man Zero 1 and 2, and Battle Chip Challenge from GBA, and Breath of Fire, Demon’s Crest, Mega Man 7, and Mega Man X3.
This is a whooooole bunch of games – something to consider when you start writing your comment about “ugh, not (game you wanted).”
