Apparently, there’s a bit of controversy over this Valkyrie Profile DS ad at Sofmap Main Branch in Akihabara.
One of the store’s workers noticed that Valkyrie Lenneth is “not wearing,” as in not wearing underwear, leading the electronics retailer to put up this sign with the headline, “Lenneth, the War of Not Wearing”:
The sign, according to Akibablog’s translation, reads:
“Lenneth doesn’t wear, does she?”
The person who said it probably said [it] without thinking about anything, but from there, the fires of war expanded.
“A female fighter would be the last person not to wear, I guess!?”
“There is no authority for saying that! But anyway, do gods wear underwear!?”
“CERO is B in this software! So [she] should be wearing!”
“That isn’t the standard!”
Now, chaos is calling chaos, and the war continues…
Valkyrie Profile -Toga wo Seoumono- Lenneth: the War of Not Wearing
If you’re confused bt the “not wearing” term, Akibablog provides a thorough explanation:
“‘Not Wearing (not wearing panties)’ is, according to Hatena Keywords, ‘used when the part of clothing of a lady that [is] supposed to be shown is not actually shown on manga or illustrations. Please be careful [because] it is close to no-pan (not wearing panties), but it’s actually different.’
New-akiba.com also explained [it as] an illustration or a figure that lets us think ‘can’t see clearly but looks like not wearing panties,’ and as a result, it gives us a big expectation of a lady not wearing.”
Absolutely wonderful.
