Code of Princess $20 on eShop
Bye, Fire Emblem/SMT credit! Code of Princess is on sale for $19.99 on the North American eShop, through July 28. It’s usually $30.
For reference, it’s still $30ish at retail. And don’t even front like Atlus didn’t time this deal perfectly to coincide with the SMT promotion. This is some diabolical sale planning. Someone at Atlus marketing was eating their Diabolical Crunch.
And since you’re buying handheld Atlus games digitally, Persona 4 Golden is also on sale for $19.99 via PSN!

Code of Princess’ articulate Master T

The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There’s a truth in your eyes sayin’ you’ll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you’ll catch me if ever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all

Code of Princess will be eShop only in EU
Code of Princess is headed to Europe, self-published by Japanese publisher/developer Agatsuma Entertainment. However, unlike in other regions, it’ll be an eShop exclusive, according to customer support information posted by Wiiitalia.
The game just happens to have been released on the North American eShop as well, so nobody in Europe or America has to look at the face of another human being when buying a game with an inappropriately dressed princess on the cover.

What’s it called when a retail 3DS game finally gets an eShop release?
Code of Princess and its fun localization are now available on eShop, though you might want to get the game for a few bucks cheaper at Amazon still (it was $30 not too long ago, but it’s back up to $36 now). That way you can the full-color instruction manual along with the bonus art book and soundtrack CD, presuming the retailer is still selling copies from the first print run.
Also out on eShop today: the much-buzzed-about Gunman Clive, dungeon crawler RPG Unchained Blades, and a DSiWare snowboarding game built on the Little Red Riding Hood’s Zombie BBQ engine (there was a skateboarding title released a few weeks ago that was also built on the four-year-old engine).
As always, the full list of releases/prices for this week and our calendar for upcoming games is available here.

The music for Code of Princess’ “Empurrium” — it’s a store run by a cat, naturally — is one of my favorite shop themes. It’s a silly tune that sounds like something like Cibo Matto would have produced back in the day.

I’m glad someone was able to give Code of Princess' Solange the advice many of us have wanted to offer her but couldn't, due to the current limitations of video games.

Again, loving Atlus’ localization of this 3DS game. Someone recently asked us if the hilarious script veers much from the original Japanese story, but I’ve no idea. Could any of you drop some knowledge on that?

Someone finally asks Code of Princess' heroine what we were all wondering. Atlus killed it with its localization for this 3DS game. The script is great, self-aware, and filled with some genuinely funny dialogue. And it's fully voiced, which really makes a lot of the humor work — there's a particularly great scene featuring two villains, Emble and Semble, stumbling over each others names.

His new kung-fu technique is unstoppable. I love that even in games that are short on story like Code of Princess, Atlus puts in the work to make the dialogue quirky and funny enough that you’ll want to keep playing to hear what characters will say next. I appreciate that, Atlus.

Code of Princess trailer. A week and a half before release, Atlus is starting the media onslaught in earnest. And doing it right, by focusing on cool-looking combat instead of, you know, near nudity.

Code of Princess screenshots, featuring thrilling nun safety missions. There is, of course, no protecting that nun from Solange’s scandalous outfit. Along with these, Atlus shared these great photos of the packaging:

Code of Princess is out October 9. That’s really dang soon!

Code of Princess, that Guardian Heroes-eque game for 3DS, is coming to the U.S. this September, thanks to Atlus.
I thought for sure that if anyone picked this up, it would be Xseed or Aksys, as Atlus’ days of publishing super-niche handheld games seemed to be behind the company. Remember when Atlus was localizing crazy, unmarketable stuff like The Dark Spire and My World, My Way?
The U.S. cover isn’t nearly as packed as the Japanese version, but you’ll still get a lot for your money if you pick this up — preorders will include the Code of Princess Sound & Visual Book, which features artwork from Kinu Nishimura and music from ACE’s soundtrack.

Code of Princess co-op gameplay. Shared status buffs! Area effect spells! Um… crazy chaotic stuff happening all over the damn place! This could be my next multiplayer jam if only someone would localize it.

Here’s a new trailer, featuring a jester with a Flying V keytar:
