Tiny Cartridge 3DS

Cory Schmitz’s “Killer” shirt back in stock ⊟

Here’s a recipe for a rad day (a few business days from now, I guess):

  1. Order this Killer 7-inspired shirt by Cory Schmitz, on Fangamer.
  2. Buy a used copy of Killer 7.
  3. Play Killer 7 while wearing the shirt.
  4. Maybe get some pizza or something, I don’t know, I can’t plan your whole life

Oh wait:

  1. Read Tiny Cartridge, a site also designed by Cory!

Now that’s a good day.

Shadow Triforce shirt idea by Cory Schmitz

The inverted Triforce tee complements his excellent Wisdom, Courage, Power shirt at Attract Mode (bottom image). If you missed the news last week, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds will introduce the Shadow Triforce.

I always love Cory’s shirts because they’re rarely gimmicks or mash-ups, just awesome and thoughtful designs.

NYU Game Center X Attract Mode

If you’re in the area and into indie games, NYU Game Center will hold its 4th Annual No Quarter exhibition tonight (7PM), which features “commissioned work from established and emerging independent developers, who have all been challenged to create games for a social, gallery setting.”

It will also showcase and sell artwork from talented folks inspired by indie games, like the above Nidhogg and BaraBariBall pieces from Kyle Fewell and Hamlet Machine (the logo is from Cory Schmitz). You can RSVP here and find more info at the event’s Facebook page.

32 pages of fan-submitted Legend of Zelda art, design, illustration, and literature. Volume 1: Wisdom (of 3) features contributions from Maré Odomo, Ashley Davis, Zac Gorman, and a bunch of other super talented folks.

You can get an idea of Zelda Zine's artwork by looking at these two posts. The first volume is priced at £3 ($4.70, before shipping/handling), which is a frickin’ steal.

Zelda Zine #2 and #3 will be available “very soon”.

Cover for Zelda Zine #2, designed by editor Cory Schmitz. This issue is already 100% complete, featuring submitted artwork from Madeline Flores and Roman Muradov.
Schmitz and GameCity intend to eventually sell this and the other two Zelda Zine volumes online (they gave away 200 copies of Volume 1: Wisdom's original print run in Nottingham last month). They also plan to compile all three issues into a Master Zine some day.

Cover for Zelda Zine 1 and more fantastic submissions to the Legend of Zelda tribute zine series. Yes, series! Due to the number of entries, editor Cory Schmitz says there will be three issues produced to feature more art.

Commander Video-themed houndstooth tote bag designs by Cory Schmitz. These were handed out to attendees at the Museum of Modern Art/Kill Screen’s “Arcade” event last week, which was unfortunately held several thousand miles away from me.

Will the design ever be used for anything else? Perhaps if we all blog about it really hard.

Anamanaguchi poster for a July show in Williamsburg, illustrated by Maré Odomo and designed by Cory Schmitz (click for a larger image). I am swooning all over this.
The art is based on Adrian Tomine’s ”Super-hero Girls” piece for Weezer, adding extra touches like the yellow Game Boy, Totoro pillow, Wavebird controller, and Famicom. You can also see some Anamanaguchi bits like Frug, the Four Loko can, and band members Peter and Luke (represented here by the lesbian rockers).
Attract Mode will sell 24” x 36” prints at the show.

Modified Goodwill paintings by Cory Schmitz, Maré Odomo, Chris Furniss, and Jacob Ferguson. The concept is pretty much self-explanatory, but since I’m totally writing a blog post about it, I’ll explain anyway: the artists picked up a bunch of paintings at Goodwill, and then painted Katamaris, Pikmin, Pokéballs, and stoic cats on top of the existing scenes.

Because they have lives where it’s possible to get together with your friends and have an art party.
