Pretty much every Atlus release is gold when it comes to finding screenshots you want to share online (original pic is courtesy of Sugarbloodsucker, by the way). Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers really earned its M-rating.

Fire Emblem x Etrian Odyssey x Soul Hackers
We’ve yet to see anything substantial for Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem, but here’s some fun Atlus crossover fanart I came across this morning. First we have Chrom clashing with an Etrian Odyssey Landnsknecht, drawn by Tora Plu. And after that is another Etrian Odyssey mash-up, this time with Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers, from 怪奇( ﾟдﾟ )くろ男.
It’s turning into a very Etrian Odyssey day… Maybe a sign that I need to bounce back into EOIV and try to plow through that six hours of progress I lost after forgetting to save.

Here’s quite an odd set of characters and demons you’ll meet in Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers — the enhanced Sega Saturn port will offer almost 300 demons you can summon and fuse when it releases for 3DS next month.

I was mildly interested in this before Atlus announced this Sega Saturn-to-3DS enhanced port for U.S., but the music, the dark cyberpunk theme, and the full voice acting make this look like a must-buy for me. Jeezy Creezy, the 3DS release list is stacked this spring/summer.

Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers box set
Soul Hackers’ first run of copies will include a CD featuring six songs from the enhanced 3DS port’s soundtrack (presumably one of them is the excellent “#X”). Atlus really makes it hard to buy digital editions of its games.
In other Atlus RPG news, there’s also a new trailer for Etrian Odyssey IV’s Sniper class — s/he shoots things real good, I hear.

I can’t stop listening to “#X”, the new opening song for Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers. This version is a little longer than the one in the trailer we posted when Atlus announced a U.S. release for next spring, but the song is still way too short at a minute and a half.

15 years later, Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers is finally coming to the states
Wow, that music! I totally missed this song from Atlus’ trailers for the Japanese version. I considered just posting the initial English screens and linking out the trailer, but that track is too good. The video doesn’t delve into the story, though, so here’s a summary:
“Soul Hackers tells of a city held up as a beacon of humanity’s triumph of technology, but with an infernal secret. In this would-be utopia, a group of hackers takes on a centuries-old mystic society, and a battle for control over humanity’s fate is about to begin.”
Shin Megami Tensei fans have waited for this one to make it here since 1997, when it released in Japan for Sega Saturn. Atlus sought to localize a PlayStation edition of Soul Hackers back in the day, but Sony shot down that idea. This 3DS enhanced port of the first-person cyberpunk/occult RPG will release in the U.S. next spring.

Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers 3DS accessory set by Fujiwork. These are just preliminary designs, but they’re all pretty dang stylish! I think I might actually learn some more about this game now!
Play-Asia lists this with an August 30 release date, the same as the game.
