chibi-tech • MoeNES vol.1: the idol composer's groove
Apparently this collection of tracks started out as a joke, but after the performance this past Saturday, chibi-tech finally released a long-awaited LP. chibi-tech is one of those musicians making chiptunes that everyone in the know will recommend.
MoeNES vol 1 includes many of the tracks you may have come to hear if you have heard chibi-tech throughout the years from live sets and so forth, this includes Moe Moe Kyunstep, if you hadn’t already picked that up.
You can catch chibi-tech perform live in a couple weeks at 8static Festival in Philadelphia! It’s worth the road trip, trust me.
Invader Invader(Kyary Pamyu Pamyu) 8-bit EDIT
Here at Animal Crossing bl- I mean, Tiny Cartridge, we enjoy the sweet sound of many, many things. Most recently I have been jamming to the bizarre J-pop/dubstep mashup of Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s “Invader Invader” so I was pretty happy to discover this wonderful 8-bit edit of that track by KUNIO. It captures all the spirit of the track while avoiding the direct2midi sound of many “8-bit” covers you’ll find around the Internet. Check out his SoundCloud for more cool covers and tracks!
Super Guachin’s “La Gorra” tells the story of a post-apocalyptic scenario in which a mega-corporation sets up a plan for world domination, eventually turning the human race into zombies. Super Guachin is the last hope for the human race, bringing music to the masses with their computers and Game Boys.
Honestly, though, I would play the hell out of that game. Super Guachin's sound combines chiptunes, cumbia beats, and dubstep to tell the story above, as well as some sweet pixel art visuals.
