Scribblenauts 2 revealed on Nintendo Power’s latest cover. According to the magazine’s April issue, the sequel will release this fall with some 10,000 new words, 120 new levels, more merits, a new hint system, improved controls, an enhanced level editor, and a focus on adjectives. Also, Scribblenauts 2 will no longer feature a par system.
This follow-up makes sense, business-wise, as the first game sold more than a million copies and publisher Warner Bros. is in the business of continuing profitable franchises. I wonder if Scribblenauts 2 will receive as much hype this time around, now that the concept isn’t so novel? I suppose we’ll find out soon if this “adjectives” mechanic is enough to inspire the hearts of gamers again, maybe even at next week’s Game Developers Convention.

5th Cell’s much talented artist Edison Yan put out his own video game fanart recently, this time Scribblenaut-izing the cast of Final Fantasy VI (I love Interceptor!):

Grand Scribblenauts artwork (click for larger image).
Edison Yan, the same 5th Cell artist behind the “Post #217” scene, painted this wonderful piece. I wonder if we’ll ever see a poster or print of this (preferably unmarked with developer/publisher/game logos)?
I love these details:
[Update: Someone found a giant version of the artwork — a 4642 x 6000 PSD. You can print your own poster with that! You can download the zip file here.]

Scribblenauts’ “Post #217” scene poster included with the latest issue of Nintendo La Rivista Ufficiale, the Italian edition of Official Nintendo Magazine.
I wonder if ONM’s British edition or any U.S. publications will offer the poster? Don’t forget that you can grab a wallpaper-sized version from IGN, too!

Scribblenaut-ized Street Fighter 2 cast by Edison Yan. I love E. Honda’s expression. And Blanka is all “Mraw!”
Some of you will recognize Yan, one of the artists at Scribblenauts developer 5th Cell, as the same talented bloke that brought NeoGAF’s Post #217 scene to life.
He didn’t stop at just SFII’s crew, drawing 18 more fighters to present SFIII’s entire lineup, in Scribblenauts form (click for a larger version):
He sketched Final Fantasy VII’s troupe, too (Aeris dies):
