Though Kevin Oke’s Lightmare looks like a Game Boy title, it’s actually a PC game, and a free one at that! I don’t know how he managed to do it, but Oke created a vampire sprite that’s cuter than Kid Dracula!

It’s a platformer with a simple premise: avoid reckless cars and beams of light while collecting vials of blood (or bottles of True Blood, if you’re a shameless nerd) scattered around the city.

I don’t follow independent games too closely — unless its a handheld project — so please excuse me for just now writing up a game released a month ago. I was actually very much tempted to volunteer as an IGF judge this year, just so I could try out all the submitted games, but my Mac probably can’t even load most of the entries. :o(
