This fall!
Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl (EOU) offers two full length experiences: The expanded story mode takes players on a journey to unravel the mystery of the Yggdrasil Tree’s origins, and the classic mode updates the originalEtrian Odyssey. Both versions feature the same gameplay conveniences, updated 3D graphics, and StreetPass™ abilities as inEtrian Odyssey IV.

Atlus has discounted Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan on the eShop to $30 for the next couple of weeks. The retail version (which includes a soundtrack CD and art book) is priced at around $37. If you pick up the game, don’t forget to scan the Tiny Cartridge QR code for an extra quest! And come up with a better name than Matty’s for your guild!
I should once again mention all the other deals going on for worthwhile 3DS games — Super Mario 3D Land, Fire Emblem: Awakening, Mario Kart 7, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D are all on sale for $29.99 each still.
There’s a set of Amazon Gold Box discounts for games today, too — if you act quick, you can get a decent AmazonBasics 3DS case for $6.99.

Etrian Odyssey IV owners, here’s one more quest you can send your party to complete in the game, if you don’t mind taking orders from some Tumblr blog’s mascot. Though you’ll need to have reached The Hall of Darkness (6th Maze) to access the quest, if you’re not at that point yet, you’ll have this whole weekend to fight your way there! :oP
I was supposed to post this forever ago, I know, but at least more of you will have played enough of the game to be able to unlock the quest now! Much thanks to @oliviactually and @kamiwoo for their help.

This trailer has some spoilers, but if you’ve already played the original Etrian Odyssey game that this 3DS remake is based on, this is worth watching anyway for the animation by Madhouse (Trigun, Paprika).
The animated scenes are a nice addition to the game, made possible by its pre-made characters (instead of party members created by players). Millennium Maiden, however, will feature a Classic Mode that lets players make their own characters — they can also swap the new orchestral soundtrack with FM synth-style music.

Like Etrian Odyssey IV, the upcoming EO: Millennium Maiden will features orchestral music, and not the FM synth many enjoyed in the first three games. I can’t complain after hearing this Yuzo Koshiro track grabbed from the 3DS remake’s official Japanese site.

Millennium Maiden is quite different from other Etrian Odyssey titles, so the 3DS RPG will also get a different look for its Japanese boxart. Instead of showcasing a party of random warriors, the packaging features one of several predefined characters (amnesiac Gunner Frederica Irving) who will join your team.
Millennium Maiden will ship to Japanese stores in late June, as will this obligatory set of accessories from Hori.

We’ve yet to see anything substantial for Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem, but here’s some fun Atlus crossover fanart I came across this morning. First we have Chrom clashing with an Etrian Odyssey Landnsknecht, drawn by Tora Plu. And after that is another Etrian Odyssey mash-up, this time with Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers, from 怪奇( ゚д゚ )くろ男.
It’s turning into a very Etrian Odyssey day… Maybe a sign that I need to bounce back into EOIV and try to plow through that six hours of progress I lost after forgetting to save.

Atlus posted a lot of screenshots and artwork for Etrian Odyssey: Millennium Maiden, and… It looks a lot like Etrian Odyssey IV! That should be no surprise, as this is meant to be a remake for the series first game (adding predefined characters and a stronger emphasis on its story) brought to the 3DS with EOIV’s framework.
Speaking of EOIV, I was surprised to find out that the game has already sold more copies than any of its DS predecessors, despite the release being $10 more expensive and on a system with a smaller install base. I expect Atlus will bring a lot more of these to the handheld.
For those of you still waiting to play EOIV in Europe, you’ll have to wait a little longer, as publisher NISA has pushed its release date there from spring to summer. :o/

Though Etrian Odyssey IV just released in the U.S., Atlus is already preparing to release some kind of 3DS spin-off or remake in Japan on June 27, according to the latest issue of Famitsu.
The title is something along the lines of Etrian Odyssey: Millennium Girl, and early reports on NeoGAF claim it’s a remake of the first game with “expanded story scenario [and] voice acting”:
“Definitely a new direction for EO. The graphics and presentation looks the same, pretty much like EO4, except it no longer looks like a ‘create your own party from the start and just explore’ dungeon crawler. Instead there’s a main character who you can name (he is voiced in story scenes), and there’s a full story where you meet other characters, and they join your party like a story RPG. All the characters appear to be voiced.
The storyline is based on EO1, but there are a ton of changes. The story starts with the main character running into a mysterious girl. The main character is a young man from the Highlands, doing some job for the guild office in Etria, and the girl he runs into is Frederica Irving, who appears to have lost her memory. Her character design has her holding a gun too.”
Atlus sure likes porting/remaking its DS games to 3DS (e.g. Devil Survivor 2: Break Record)!

That flying ship is a lot smaller than I expected, what with the surplus of Red Horned Ox I tend to collect while sailing through the game’s overworld.
This piece comes from Alexandra Douglass — you can download the non-cropped desktop background and read an interview about the artist’s contributions to the U.S. release at the official EOIV blog.

This message (posted by Coney Island Disco Palace) comes up when you register one of the many QR codes distributed for Etrian Odyssey IV — if Atlus planned it right, the publisher would have released this through the game’s Facebook page.
If you missed the link earlier, this Into The Labyrinth forum thread is pretty good for collecting EOIV QR codes. I just found a couple items I hadn’t seen before (Matador Rapier and Sarcophagus Armor), and there are a bunch of quests littered throughout the thread.

This Etrian Odyssey IV enemy is too cute. Like, his special move is is turning invisible so no one can hit him, then reappearing to smack you with his silly tongue — and while he’s invisible, he continues his jig.
Too. Cute. Might even be related to our own lizard.
