Get 20 Bravely Default villagers without StreetPass ⊟
Even with the StreetPass Relay system, getting hits on your system can be difficult in some rural areas, so I’m always happy to post workarounds here. Especially when they’re for a game like Bravely Default (and its demo) that encourages you to get StreetPasses to speed up bonus unlocks.
Super Yoshi posted this cheat that enables you to pick up villagers in the demo without StreetPasses — you may need to turn off auto-saving and make sure you haven’t hit a certain point:
- Play up to the point where you get the quest for killing the second boss, Adamantite. That’s when I noticed the extra villager being available from that one NPC, so it could work earlier too.
- Save your game before talking to that NPC. He is somewhere between the spell shop and equipment shop during the day.
- Talk to him, and then check that your villager count has increased by 1.
- Go talk to the Adventurer and choose “To title”, and then load up your save file again.
- Now just talk to the villager-giving NPC again, and you should receive another villager!
Nice! And don’t forget that you can transfer those villagers to the full game once that’s released. Credit to Sayo for the artwork.

Pokemon x(y) Persona ⊟
If Nintendo made Fire Emblem x Shin Megami Tensei happen, they could find a way to turn this into a real thing. It’s no weirder than the Pokemon Conquest crossover with Nobunaga’s Ambition! The mock-up is from Hilda, via Hatsuu.
Yay, it’s Bravely Default demo time in the U.S. ⊟
Yay, a reason to talk about 3DS news and the eShop that has nothing to do with the service’s downtime lately. It’s also something to tide you over until this RPG releases in five weeks (or until Yumi’s Odd Odyssey hits this month).
Don’t forget that the downloadable trial contains content that isn’t in the main game, and that you can carry over bonuses from the demo to the retail version. Credit to Chiisanpo for the above pic.

Now here’s that modern Link’s Awakening DX’d ⊟
If Link’s Awakening were made today ⊟
It would probably have more colors than green, though! The re-imagined screenshot comes from Jonatan Iversen-Ejve, who illustrated this for Swedish magazine LEVEL (via gamover mx981). I’m not too enamored with the art style in Iversen-Ejve’s version — it seems a bit too Triple Towns-ish to me — but I’d welcome a remake for Link’s Awakening.
If Nintendo was able to transform the second-best Zelda into the wonderful, modern masterpiece that was A Link Between Worlds, just think what the company could do with the series best entry.
Happy Holidays from Amaterasu ⊟
Capybara artist and animator Kelly Smith offers up one last holiday card from Attract Mode’s Bit Bazaar: Winter Market pack, and it’s a great Okami tribute.
Bit Bazaar: Winter Market is going on right now in Toronto! If you hurry to Bento Miso, you might still be able to make it before the event closes (7PM) and grab some of these cards! You’ll also see some killer zines, games, snacks, comics, and more.
Damnit, Snorunt ⊟
This Bit Bazaar: Winter Market holiday card comes from Kris Mukai, who makes awesome stuff on the reg, so follow her Tumblr. I want so much in this illustration: the sweater, the socks, the cookies, the hot chocolate, the Pokemon best bud.
You’ll be able to buy this along with other holiday cards from Attract Mode and Bento Miso this Saturday in Toronto — RSVP here!
Deck the Halls with Samus Aran ⊟
Here’s another great holiday card, this time from Babs Tarr. This and several other designs will be available to purchase at Bento Miso and Attract Mode’s Bit Bazaar: Winter Market event, which pops off this Saturday in Toronto
Bit Bazaar will feature “one-of-a-kind, limited-edition goods from over 30 exhibitors — zines, games, comics, t-shirts, posters, mixtapes and toys — right from the artists!” RSVP here.
Fabulous Fangamer X Attract Mode prints on sale ⊟
Remember all those great pieces we featured from last summer’s Fangamer X Attract Mode show? They’re now available to purchase online over at the Attract Mode shop! Though some of the prints are made to order, if you place your order soon, you should still be able to get them in time for Christmas in case you want to give them out as presents.
Kari Fry’s Field Guide to Kanto ⊟
Wow! Fangamer just debuted this beautiful paperback/hardcover book by Kari Fry, with detailed illustrations of all 151 original Pokemon, with detailed information. It’s like an Audubon guide to notional creatures, and I love it.
It’s also part of Fangamer’s “Sleep In Sale" just like everything else, offering free shipping on everything and bonuses with $50 and $100 orders.
Neat Zelda, Nintendo shirts from Threadless ⊟
Like, when was the last time a “haha Zelda reference” shirt was actually cool?
Did you listen to the new TinyCast, which is all about The Legend of Zelda: A Link between Worlds? If not, go ahead and do that right now — maybe check out the eShop while that plays, and grab one of the Zelda games currently on sale (Zelda 1, 2, and Link’s Awakening DX all 30 percent off).
