The Legend of Voxel Zelda by Timo Vihola

I’d be alright if Nintendo and Arika put out a couple of 3D Classics releases (or complete remakes, which graphical overhauls like this would require) for The Legend of Zelda that looked like this.

“Princess Peach” by Masao
Let’s all go into the weekend in this spirit: stretched out on a cushion, just playing whatever makes us happy, whether it’s Fire Emblem or Mega Man 2 – oh yeah, Mega Man 2’s out on eShop this week! – or something from the backlog.

New round of Fire Emblem: Awakening DLC out
Fire Emblem: Awakening’s first paid downloadable content is now available at your local Outrealm Gate, dubbed Champions of Yore 2 and featuring series favorite Roy.
You can pay $2.50 for the map, or spend $4 to buy the Champions Pack. The latter contains the first and currently free map, Champions of Yore 2, and the third not-yet released chapter with Micaiah.
The fantastic artwork above of “Marth,” by the way, comes from Poiv.

Nintendo helping Japanese devs bring more 3DS games to the West
It seems Western developers haven’t been able to match the 3DS output of their Japanese counterparts, in both quantity and quality, so Nintendo is picking up the slack. President and CEO Satoru Iwata said during an investors briefing yesterday that the company will help Japanese studios distribute more of their titles overseas, similar to its arrangement with Level-5 and the Professor Layton series.
That’s in addition to the “approximately 10 key titles” from its first-party pool that Nintendo will release for the 3DS in the West, presumably including Fire Emblem: Awakening, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, Brain Age: Concentration Training, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity, LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins, Pokémon X/Y, and Animal Crossing: New Leaf — the last of which is still scheduled for the first half of this year.

Bulbasaur by Twarda, painted in Colors 3D
I keep neglecting to check out the Colors 3D gallery, a failing on my part because people continue to put out some amazing paintings with the 3DS art app. People post pieces like this cute portrait there on the reg.

While the release list for this year still has a lot of holes, 2013 is already looking so good for 3DS.

Fennekins Forever

Has the Pokemon series found its new Pikachu? Let’s wait until we see if it’s a fire/fighting-type Pokemon — and if people decide to continue supporting the X/Y starter if that’s the case — before making any declarations.

The artists behind these pieces, in order of appearance

We have already posted like a million Fennekin pics, and it’s only been a week since we were introduced to the starter. Maybe it’s time to cut back on these…
