Tiny Cartridge 3DS

More new Fantasy Life footage ⊟

Including, like… a second of the “Origin Island” DLC. But this continues to look great! A lil’ action-RPG type stuff with friends sounds like just the thing right about now, not to mention all the other town activities.

Playing Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright right now, I laughed when I saw a red “!” pop up in this trailer. This is the Level-5-est thing.

A few leftover 3DS news items ⊟
This stuff, from this morning’s Direct/press release is exciting, if maybe a bit less OMG WHAT than new 3DS hardware (seriously, though, what). So here it is! Let’s catch up together!
Kirby eShop games out today: The Triple Deluxe spinoff games Dedede’s Drum Dash Deluxe and Kirby Fighters Deluxe are on eShop today, for $7 each, and you get bonus stuff if you already have Triple Deluxe. Why did Nintendo wait until a day after its normal eShop release day, sending these out along with Gunvolt and Layton vs. Phoenix Wright? Well, uh, man I don’t know.
Fantasy Life DLC: “Origin Island offers a new area that is home to an ancient culture and powerful enemies, additional story content, new ranks to achieve in Life Classes, access to even more powerful equipment and two new varieties of pets to adopt: birds and dragons.” It’ll be out on the game’s Oct. 24 release date.
Ultimate NES Remix: Out December 5 for $30, and contains challenges based on 16 NES games. The main problem I had with the Wii U games was that they weren’t on 3DS, so, cool!
2DS bundles: No announcement of the new 3DS hardware for US, but we get… existing 2DS colors with a code for Mario Kart 7, for $129.99. These come out early October. That’s just as good, right?
Don’t forget to check out our coverage from this morning: New 3DS and XL announced, customizable faceplates and Home menu themes, Amiibo figures revealed and up for preorder, and our thoughts on the New 3DS.

Fight Fantasy Life’s dragons with friends ⊟

Here’s a quick look at Fantasy Life’s multiplayer adventuring, featuring lots of dragon combat. This is one multiplayer mode; if you don’t happen to be playing in the same world/town, you can still chat with friends online through “Link Mode” which is kind of neat, although why aren’t you playing Fantasy Life with your friends, if you’re playing Fantasy Life at the same time?

Fantasy Life looks so fun ⊟

We haven’t talked about Fantasy Life much on the site since Nintendo announced it for the West, but if you’ve tuned in to the TinyCast, you’ve heard how hyped we are for this action RPG/life sim from Level-5 and 1-Up Studio.

I was sold on this 3DS game as soon as I saw Tailor pop up as one of the playable classes — you can see all the jobs in this new overview trailer for Europe, where the game releases on September 26. If you’re excited about this too and want to connect with me online so I can make you some bomb-ass outfits, preorder it here!

Fantasy Life coming to North America  ⊟

It’s happening! Level-5 and Brownie Brown’s (or 1-Up Studio as it’s now known) fun-looking RPG/life sim thing will release here this October!

If you’re wondering what Fantasy Life is:

"Players embark on the adventure of their dreams as they craft, cast, battle and role-play. The innovative Life system lets players change to one of 12 Life classes at virtually any time to access different abilities. The huge fantasy landscape is filled with surly dark paladins, slick pirate captains and others who share a taste for the unknown."

Trailer after the break:

Fantasy Life Link trailer

This clip shows the enhanced edition’s new map, new characters, and most importantly, lots of multiplayer – this version adds online play. This game isn’t all combat, but I guess that just makes for a better trailer.

If you already have a copy of the original Fantasy Life for your Japanese 3DS, you can upgrade for 2,000 yen, it looks like. Nice! And if you have a copy for your American 3DS, you live in the future, where we’ve successfully convinced Level-5 to localize this.

Fantasy Life commercials are the cutest thing! They’re all about how you can have adventures, cook, and do basically whatever you feel like every day.

Yoshitaka Amano illustrations for Fantasy Life

Boy, this game sure is going through a lot of different art styles! First there was its 16-bit-ish look, then its 3D transformation, and now this — Amano is a legend, though, so he’s allowed to step in and do whatever he wants.

Besides, like the Final Fantasy artwork he’s famous for, this won’t actually appear in the 3DS game. As far as I can tell, publisher Level-5 is just using the airship image for the RPG/life-sim’s mini-soundtrack preorder bonus in Japan.

Japanese boxart for Fantasy Life, the colorful RPG/sim hitting Japan next month from Level-5 and Brownie Brown. If you missed it last week, here’s a new 6-minute trailer that makes the game look a LOT nicer than it seemed in the screenshots we shared before. The music is tops, too — hope those tracks make it into the actual game.

Fishing, bug hunting, and mining in Fantasy Life. Is it just me, or does this game look kinda… rough…? I’m still totally down for picking up a fake job in an idyllic village, but… yeah… rough…

New Fantasy Life trailer from TGS. Even if this 3DS game trailer had no video at all, I would be irredeemably charmed right now. This relaxing music is exactly what I needed at this point in my day. Hope it helps you too!

Fantasy Life trailer. We basically only see anything of this 3DS title once a year at Level-5’s Vision conference, and it looks wonderful every time. I’m now fully over the transition from Brownie Brown’s signature 2D style to a polygonal look, as it allows the characters to look more like Hideo Minaba’s character designs than Mother characters.

Besides, if you want a 2D slow-life RPG by Brownie Brown, Professor Layton’s London Life is coming out in like a couple of days as part of Professor Layton and the Last Specter (in North America). This seems to be sort of a London Life 2 with fantasy stuff.
