I had a difficult time finding any themed video game music to celebrate New Year’s Eve with — I almost decided to just post The Dismemberment Plan’s depressing “Ice of Boston” — but I eventually settled on this chiptune remix of Europe’s “Final Countdown,” since you can sort of relate it to the New Year’s countdown.

Besides, I imagine that most of you are Arrested Development fans who’ll enjoy the song anyway. And if you aren’t, you really should be.

So long as I’m talking about “Final Countdown,” I would be remiss not to bring up Music Monstars’ rendition of the song. The Elite Beat Agents clone is slated for a stateside release in January 2009 under the name Monster Band. Mark your calendar!
