Four Swapnotes for the new year, plus a very special message from Mare Odomo (click for larger images). These awesome sketches from Cory Godbey, Ashley Davis, Jonathan “Persona” Kim, and Hef helped me get over Nintendo not sending its Japanese New Year Swapnote — and its special stationary — to the rest of us.
Nintendo also posted an official QR code for Swapnote mascot Nikki in Japan. If you’d rather have her name in English text, IGN’s Lucas Thomas re-created her Mii here.
Do you know how you can tell that Swapnote and Nikki are really taking off? There is now foot fetish fanart for the fictional character. Is no Nintendo character safe?

While searching for an image to complement this “Amazon Deal of the Day” post, I came across this scene of Captain Olimar commanding his band of Pikmin to tickle the feet of Kingdom Hearts’s Sora. The Bulborb seems pretty confused about the whole mess, too.
Artist Erich Scheidle has a lot more art like this in his portfolio — Donkey Kong eating a banana while watching parrots use their feathered tails to torture the kids from Sonic X, a cackling trio of hyenas tickling the toes of Pokémon’s Veilstone Gym leader Maylene, and King K. Rool and King Dedede cheering on as a pair of Kirbys run feathers across Zero Suit Samus and Sheena Fujibayashi’s (Tales of Symphonia) feet.
It is a strange thing to want video game characters to tickle the feet of other tied up and unrelated game characters.

Princess Peach’s bare foot wallpaper by Skillustrate.
Peach’s face looks a bit jacked up in this piece, but I presume that the Nintendo fanboys/foot fetishists who slap this onto their desktops won’t mind.
Skillustrate created alternate versions for the Mario series’ other “swap palette princessess,” which Auntie Pixelante insightfully called out as demonstrating that “all Peach and Daisy are is hair colors”:
Oh man, remember this terrible “art” I linked seven months ago of Krang (Yes, that Krang. What other Krang would I be takling about?) licking and tickling Daisy’s feet? Yeah, it hasn’t gotten any less disturbing since then.
